🚨CLOSED SOURCE SOFTWARE IS DEAD
... especially in web3. Security researchers are now achieving hash-perfect recompilation of Rust projects' source code, using AI. And then they find Critical vulnerabilities.
Insanely cool work by @osec_io, love it👏
osec.io/blog/goonfi-decompil…
Data brokers are now buying up SaaS data sets for anywhere from $100K to $2M
SaaS are struggling now and some extra money to fill the gap by declining revenues is nice
That data is then re-sold to AI training companies and AI frontier labs for the exact purpose of integrating whatever that SaaS did into the AI frontier lab's app
Pretty obvious to see where this is going
Chiming in on @levelsio's discussion about SaaS dying.
A major reason increasingly more businesses will create their own software instead of paying for SaaS is that they don't want to become someone else's unpaid data source.
As Greg points out, dying SaaS companies are immensely valuable data troves for AI companies. Great for them, but not great for their customers.
As time goes by, "data value awareness" is going to rise I think, and more people and business will begin to see the data they produce as an asset worth something.
There is an M&A company that had suggested that @taptanium's legacy app codebases (a form of training data) could be worth ~$45k per app, just because they predate the AI revolution and contain highly complex, handwritten and correct concurrency logic that is like digital gold for AI.
The value of data is widely underrated. When I was driving a Model 3 back then in Germany, my car was collecting valuable data for Tesla, which they used to develop FSD, a technology potentially worth trillions. Owners didn't get paid for that data ofc, and were actually asked to pay up in order to benefit from it fully. None of my Tesla friends thought about it and just paid, on top of delivering tons of data for it. They had no data value awareness.
Some time ago Taptanium was using Appfigures to see sales, revenue, downloads and rankings in a cleaner dashboard. It was cool, but I realized I was feeding the beast with my data, which such companies also use to build App Store intelligence tools so other competitors could more easily find out what's worth cloning or attacking.
So data value awareness is going to be really important, especially now that AI agents can leverage the slightest traces of cues in ways that can work for you, or against you.
What kind of data do you own that might be valuable for AI training or that is strategically important to keep to yourself? And are you letting others suck it all up for free or for pennies, or is there a way you can protect it or sell it at its fair market value?

Just got back after 2 weeks of Token2049 & KBW
I don't have any token2049 takeways for you, but what I can say is:
your leverage is being built at home and not from networking at events!
You have much more pull when you enter conversations as someone who can add value and has something to show for it, especially if its around an in-demand subject.
Things move very quickly from you running around at events to people proactively seeking out you.
You will be taken serious, doors will unlock and you will sit at tables that you cant get to from "networking", even if its alongside people who have known you for years.
It doesnt matter that people know you, it matters what people know you for.
My advice to builders: just stay in your lane, things will fall into place once you nailed it!

Saying software is dead because anyone can build it is like saying photography is dead now that everyone in the world has a camera in their pocket
Not only is it not dead it's the beginning of the Kodak Brownie moment for software, and we will see an absolute explosion of it
It will be the first generation for who building software will feel no different than using it. This is crazy!
The quality and bar of what we expect from our everyday apps will be raised dramatically, we'll have personal software, we'll have disposable software, and agents will be the foundation for most of it
Tech has always been chaotic and evolving, the people who have been able to adapt and move in front of new opportunities have always excelled, this is nothing new, I'm seeing it now and we'll see it 10 years from now
Find the opportunities in the chaose and disruption, there are countless of them

was going thru some recent raises of ai companies... and man, some of these ideas are so retarded that you can probably one shot them with claude... if not building them, you can just have claude/gpt agents do that work for you in less than 2 hours.
raising $10-$30m for the ideas that are gonna be non existent in 2 years is literally what crypto 2023-24 felt like.
I built a DLMM simulation with Flybrain for fun
Check it out here:
Now Flybrain is available on DLMM @meteora :v

This was my first time at Solana Breakpoint (Singapore 2024). It was during my student days. Huge thanks to @SuperteamMY and @0xBenjamintan
- The day before the main event, I joined the student mixer and met students from @superteam across different regions.
- Quick intro and talked with other student builders, especially on DeFi, DePIN, and consumer products
Fun fact: it's my first encounter with my g @Twentifo24 while he was carrying a lot of swag. Massive W for him
Together we're conquering some of the booth
Fomo for the next @SolanaEvents Breakpoint 2026?
It's not too late yet. It's at the Olympia Convention Centre in London. Remember to connect with your local @superteam.
