RIP to Alan Riding, one of the all-time great Latin America corros and author of DISTANT NEIGHBORS (1984), still probably the best book about Mexico and its relationship with the U.S.
Born in Brazil to British parents, he also wrote a book with legendary photographer Sebastião Salgado and covered the Central America wars for NYT. A generation that wore fedoras, smoked cigars and chronicled a LatAm that was much poorer, riven by conflict and less democratic than today. But like many successful chroniclers he saw the good alongside the bad and had a social consciousness that may have been ahead of its time. NYT obit in the comments. He was 82.

This statement by Kristi Noem is delusional and dangerous. She should not be in a position of power.
Classifying all Americans who are against the fascist Trump regime as “terrorists” is ridiculous and literally textbook Fascism.

The ultimate in desperation. When you have Trey Sweeney pinch hit in the bottom of the 8th inning with runners on second and third, two outs in a must-win game.
The @Tigers implosion continues. Anyone else share my disgust at the failure to add a strong hitter and a starting pitcher ahead of the trade deadline? Anyone else tired of the failure of Greene and Tork to just get on base and stop swinging for the fences with every whiff?
