It's been a minute since I attended a design festival!
Sharing some highlights from Forward Festival in Berlin.

Super stoked for this. It keeps getting easier (and cheaper) to publish on the web.
We had a soft launch of @SpacefastHQ yesterday before our board meeting, @batuhan (and now a team!) have been cooking what I think is the future of @WordPress and AI. You don't have to know or think WordPress, but this leverages wp.cloud to give you a Real Database, auth, uploads, email, @akismet / @automattic spam protection, and soon stats.
The architecture is amazing I'd actually love to talk to @Lovable et al see if we can host things for them for less than they spend now.
Datacenter space and components are getting pricey... So we might have to limit signups to prioritize our @WordPressVIP customers but get in while you can!
WordPress Studio was super helpful to build openstudiosfaro.com
Couldn't do without it. At last I can build quickly, contribute for a local pro-bono event without losing my sleep 🎨

Dave is a long-time contributor to WordPress, and a colleague at Automattic. He's been working on this concept of making WP much more friendly to actual, non-technical users.
This video is well worth a watch as some of the concepts for updating the WordPress admin experience are very interesting.
My favourites: Universal Canvas and Workspaces.

Last week’s stream is now live—watch it here! 🎥 I used Studio Code to build a theme for a local sports team 🏆, and I didn’t write a single line of code. 💻

Claude Sonnet 5, meet WordPress Studio.
Studio Code can now run on @AnthropicAI's most agentic Sonnet model. Build plugins, create blocks, hunt down errors, and tweak your theme with this model in the desktop app or via the CLI.
Loving how @figma is quickly doing —well— in a streamlined way what @Adobe #Illustrator, #Photoshop , #InDesign and #AfterEffects, sadly, still don't do.
15+ years after I started to explore these tools the same inconsistencies, like different default shortcuts, still remain.

Everyone: "Font licensing is expensive"
Me: "How much does it cost to license this single image from Getty to use on social media?"

#COVID19 has exposed the lie that free markets can deliver healthcare for all, the fiction that unpaid care work isn't work, the delusion that we live in a post-racist world.

Very few know that for years, CorelDRAW has had a very sensible UI for OpenType features. On top of that, CorelDRAW 2020 adds support for variable fonts, and works just as well on Mac & Windows! Try free for 15 days, or buy for US$665 or $399/year: font.org/corel
