Structural engineers have a word for the element that only reveals itself the moment it gives way: load-bearing. Most organisations discover what was load-bearing exactly the same way.
Correlation is cheap. Causation is leadership. More data and prettier dashboards haven't touched the real problem: most of what we call insight is correlation in better clothing.
AI didn't delete the work. It made it invisible. The productivity you're waiting for didn't disappear — it changed shape and moved somewhere your dashboards stopped looking.
The demo is not the decision. A demo is engineered to remove exactly the constraints production will insist on. Applause in the room tells you nothing about survival in the pipeline.
Sovereignty isn't a binary, and it isn't a compliance checkbox. It's a per-workload decision — data gravity, regulatory exposure, latency, the cost of being wrong. Answer it once, globally, and you'll live with that answer for a decade.
Manufacturing, banking, healthcare, retail — each insists its AI problem is industry-specific. They're all standing at the same orchestration wall, having walked up to it from different directions.
"Technology-first" looks like rigour: benchmarks, evals, architecture diagrams. It's usually a solution shopping for a problem. The tell — an org that can describe its stack in detail and its bottleneck only vaguely.
The most dangerous moment for an AI pilot isn't when it fails. It's when it succeeds. Success buys the political capital to keep piloting — and the organisation mistakes motion for progress.

Modern AI hardware is just wild:
- Left: 1U 2xGH200 server, 2x 2.7kW power
- Right: Cabinet spec for Equinix SV2 is 2.4-5kW power
So a single server exceeds the power limit for the entire cabinet. Which has space for 42 servers 🤯 And Blackwell will make this even worse.
