I didn't realize how extremely derivative of The Orville is. It's fantastic, because I miss TNG, but every little detail and story is TNG very slightly rotated. The notable exceptions are the sitcom tint and the romance with present-day music and topics - nothing 80s, 90s, and Now was worth remembering in TNG I guess.

I want my Halloween candy 100% bug origin, but a little confectioners' glaze and honey in candy corn will have to do. 🤤
The shine on candy corn is bug resin. Brach's calls it confectioner's glaze.
The bag reads sugar, corn syrup, then 2% or less of salt, dextrose, confectioner's glaze (shellac), gelatin, honey, artificial flavors, sesame oil, Yellow 5, Yellow 6 and Red 40.
Shellac is what a lac insect leaves on tree branches in India and Thailand. It gets scraped off the bark, cleaned, dissolved in alcohol and tumbled over the candy, and it dries into the same hard coat that goes on a hardwood floor. That's the shine, and it's why the pieces don't glue themselves together in the bag. The gelatin is pork or beef collagen, there for the chew. The honey Brach's puts on the front of the bag is under 2%, behind the salt.
Bags on shelves this fall list Red 40. Last year's listed Red 3, which FDA pulled from food in January 2025 with a 2027 deadline. Brach's says it makes about 7 billion kernels a year.
Well sure You Can See Everything with a creepy Momo eyeball like that. Steering well clear of that peep show!

Setting up a user feedback forum and feedback action pipeline for AI agents warms the cockles of my heart.
Or do I mean cackles, because I am a little. Are the agents going to get that feature before users, and do they actually need it?
Dreamt author John Green was an IRL family friend, and a bunch of supposed relations of his parked all over the lawn at my parents' house to go cross-country skiing, and I'm running around explaining "please stop, there's no good skiing during lawn parking season."

Technical moats are mostly over at this point. If you’re building something that is meant to be durable, the only moats now are:
• Proprietary data
• Network effects
• A physical component
Someone put away the garden early this year but forgot to kill the schedule on the irrigation controller. Seems the drip standpipes were geysering while I was away.

UPDATE: due to directives that all AI is now SI,
the U.S. Air Force has been renamed The U.S. Sir Force
but maybe agentic quality ops gonna revert this wad autonomously when no one uses it by next month, and give spec/code agents a proper talking to, unfortunately after they already copied this wad down into three other soon to be unused and yet seemingly belt and suspenders structures
