Hi, I’m Victor. I’m 28, building from Nigeria. I’m not going to call myself a failure, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not frustrated. Two months ago, I built Rellay, a platform designed to make legal documents easier to create, complete, sign and manage. We launched it. But building a product and having enough capital to actually push it into the market are two very different things. I couldn’t scale it the way I wanted. So I went back to building. Now I’m building Vemmo - @joinvemmo. Vemmo is a business management and payments platform for everyday businesses - helping merchants manage products, inventory, sales, expenses and payments from one simple system. The vision is much bigger: give millions of businesses the kind of technology usually available only to bigger, more sophisticated merchants without the complexity or heavy software costs. And once again, I’ve reached the part nobody talks enough about: Getting a product built is one problem. Getting the capital to put it in front of the market is another. Nigeria has incredible builders, but raising early capital when you don’t already belong to the right networks can be exhausting. Still, I’m building. I don’t need sympathy. I need a fair opportunity to put Vemmo in the hands of real businesses and prove whether the market wants it. I’m currently looking to connect with investors, operators, merchants and people who understand what we’re trying to build. If that’s you, say hello. @joinvemmo Maybe this post reaches the one person I’m supposed to meet.

They say building is easier than ever. Yet somehow, everything is starting to look the same. You can almost tell which products were carefully built and which were simply prompted into existence. When the barrier to building disappears, does craft become the real moat?

As a founder building in Nigeria. Have options. One of the biggest mistakes founders make is building as though one path must work. One investor. One customer segment. One distribution channel. One payment provider. One market. One source of income. That is dangerous anywhere. In Nigeria, it can be fatal. Markets shift. Capital disappears. Regulations change. Infrastructure fails. Customers delay. Partnerships collapse. Your job as a founder is not just to build a great product. Your job is to preserve optionality. Have a product that can evolve. Multiple routes to market. Revenue before fundraising becomes survival. Relationships before you desperately need introductions. Enough runway to say no to bad capital. Build locally, but think beyond one geography. The strongest companies are not always the ones that predicted everything correctly. They are often the ones that gave themselves enough options to survive being wrong. In emerging markets, optionality is not indecision. It is strategy. Build conviction but never build yourself into a corner.

Be like one Nigeria Founders has offended @TosinOlugbenga this week because man his giving it to us back to back 😂
Those guys who own Lovable, started it in a coffee shop. Same idea starting in Lagos might not survive. Who will fund your idea? Where’s the first market to adopt the business and help it scale to prominence? Before an investor can look at your business, you must have the numbers already. Most Nigerian founders are just building against hope. Many do two jobs to be able to keep the startup running. But when they can’t pay salaries, you will start lecturing them about how to run business.

I think you have to let go @v0xium and accept the change in human ingenuity. AI has flopped human thinking capacity already because everyone talk to one or two LLMs daily to get the job done quickly. I hope we don’t just get to a point where our life is controlled by it🙁
I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude. There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

As a man, build liquidity in every area of your life. Not just financial liquidity. Have money you can access. Skills that can earn anywhere. A reputation that opens doors. Relationships built on trust. Friends you can genuinely call. Because when life gets difficult, what saves you is often not what you own; it’s what you can access. Cash. Knowledge. Opportunities. People. Goodwill. No man is an island. Build a life with options and liquidity. #PersonalGrowth

Wow! This will be the first most innovative government decision in Nigeria history if well implemented. Truthfully, it’s been a hell building in Nigeria, no access to capital, VC are greedy, solo Investors only give a damn about product that is already working with no consideration for the growing ones. If Itana is not later jeopardized and fund not embezzle, this will give all Nigeria youth and founders a platform to build and grow without leaving home. I’ll thank you wholeheartedly Mr President @officialABAT if this work. God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬
BUILDING AFRICA’S NEXT GENERATION OF GLOBAL DIGITAL COMPANIES FROM NIGERIA Nigeria has the talent, enterprise, and ambition to build companies that can compete anywhere in the world. Our responsibility as a government is to ensure that Nigerians do not have to leave Nigeria or rely on other jurisdictions to realise that potential. For too long, some of our most promising young entrepreneurs have felt compelled to establish their companies and intellectual property abroad to access global capital and markets. I do not accept that this must remain the case. I want the next generation of African technology, finance and service companies to be built, headquartered and scaled to the world from Nigerian soil.

Nigerians don’t think I’m making mouth regards Nigeria funding reality. I freshly built a startup called Vemmo @joinvemmo it’s an app that enables merchants and business owners to manage sales, inventory, expenses, product, accept business payments, and track performance. As a software engineer I built this product solo and its Android preview version is live. Since live have reached out to couple Investors to borrow us fund to put it on App Store and Play Store but they never give a damn. They all see me as fraudster despite presenting the product to them. Why is Nigeria so difficult to build from? I believe by now in Silicon Valley we should have Investors bidding to fund. I hope Itana can change this narrative and give hundreds of talented individuals like me access to innovate, build, and scale all from home😒

There’s no shortcut to success. As a young man hunger for success we all have to learn from Tony Sorry Mr Chairman 🤭
Stumbled upon my old business card from my early days as a photocopier salesperson. It brought back memories of being a young, hungry sales rep, learning the fundamentals of resilience, negotiation, and grit. Those lessons have stayed with me over the years and continue to shape how I approach business and engage with customers today. It’s also a reminder that who you become tomorrow is often shaped by the foundation you lay today; the discipline, hard work, and consistency you put in when no one is watching. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep executing. As for the phone number and address on the card? Long gone 😂

Nigeria government gave them such power. No man is above the law but when a country subjected itself to inferiorism those are usually the end results. We dare not do that in China as a black man or even the white man himself. We’ll get it right someday and I hope we do better as a nation
“A driver shared a story about how he picked up a Chinese man and took him to Onitsha Main Market. When they were about to head back to Asaba, they got stuck in traffic because of a roadblock. The Chinese man told him to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid the roadblock. The driver warned him that the police officers on that lane might arrest him for driving against traffic, but the Chinese man still told him to go and not worry…”

I got to realize today that there’s more to man personality than what he posted on social media. Current CEO of Apple @johnternus brought this realization, he got on social when he needed it no clout changing, no fugazzi just him and his simplicity, and now the world recognizes him easily.
