I wasn’t comparing amounts, I’m saying they both are the same kind of debt and a complete non issue. Both financed largely by long term debt that will easily be serviced
They definitely have a bright future with their ambition for sure though. A lot of other schools could learn from that
JMU has a great trajectory but they aren’t there yet. ACC schools are all behemoth institutions. JMU’s got a different profile than most of the other SBC schools and tracking to be more in line with where the American schools are right now. They have a UCF like desire though
The American is a massive upgrade over the SBC in every way but they aren’t even close to the ACC yet institutionally. They just became an R2 school in 2022, and spent just 21.4M on research in 2024. Endowment is just 181M. Basketball is not there either
