Save this post. One day you will need every word of it. When life presses in, most people reach for their phone. God's people reach for His Word. Here are five scriptures to pray when you need God's help. When you need protection, pray John 10:28-29. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand." You are held by two hands, and no enemy is strong enough to open them. When you are exhausted, pray Matthew 11:28. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Jesus doesn't ask the weary to try harder. He asks them to come. When you are afraid, pray Isaiah 43:1-2. "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you." He didn't promise there would be no waters. He promised you wouldn't pass through them alone. When you feel lost, pray Psalm 23:1-3. "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want... He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake." A lost sheep doesn't find the path. The Shepherd finds the sheep. When worry takes over, pray Philippians 4:6-7. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Worry talks to your problem. Prayer talks to your God. And when you don't know which way to turn, remember Psalm 119:105: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." In Ezekiel 37,we find a valley of dry bones.They had not recently died.The decay is so complete that even the memory of what these people looked like is gone. Nothing remains but bones bleaching under an open sky. God tells Ezekiel to prophesy. And he does. Bone comes to bone. Flesh covers them. Breath enters. And an exceeding great army stands on its feet. They didnt have grave clothes. No burial wrappings. No remnant of the death they came out of. What was placed on them was entirely new. Fresh flesh. New breath. Nothing carried over from the grave. Now go to John 11. Jesus arrives four days after Lazarus has died. The tomb is sealed. The mourners are present. And Jesus, standing outside a closed grave, calls a dead man by name. "Lazarus, come forth." John 11:43, KJV. And he comes out. But here is what we can not ignore. Lazarus comes out still wrapped. Still bound hand and foot with grave clothes. His face still covered. Yes he has resurrection life inside him but the burial wrappings still on him. And Jesus turns to the people standing there and says, "Loose him, and let him go." John 11:44, KJV. Two resurrections. Two very different conditions coming out of death. Ezekiel's army had nothing of the old death clinging to them because there was nothing left to cling. Lazarus had only been dead four days. There was still something of the former life wrapped around him when the new life came. And Jesus did not leave him that way.He looked at the people standing around Lazarus and gave them an assignment. Loose what death wrapped around him. Some of us have already been raised. The resurrection moment already happened. There was a point where God breathed new life into a situation, a marriage, a calling, a sense of purpose, an identity that had been buried. You came out of that tomb. You are walking. You are moving. You are alive. But you are still wrapped😪 Old shame that has no legal right to stay is still covering your face. Words spoken over you by people who knew you before God renamed you are still bound around your hands.Yes,the resurrection already happened,but you are still moving in grave clothes. Paul understood this. He wrote to the church at Ephesus and told them plainly, "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24, KJV. Put off. Be renewed. Put on. Paul was not writing to dead people. He was writing to people who were already alive in Christ and still wearing what belonged to a former version of themselves. The grave clothes had a name in Paul's language. The old man. And his instruction was not to manage it, not to make peace with it, not to carry it carefully into the new season. Take it off👌 And Jesus is still saying exactly what He said outside that tomb. Loose them and let them go. He did not unwrap Lazarus himself. He assigned that to the community standing there. Which means some of the loosing that needs to happen in your life requires you to stand in the presence of people who will agree with your resurrection and not your burial. What are you still wearing that belongs to a version of you that God already buried? What labels, what limitations, what sentences are you still moving around in that have no place on a resurrected life? May the same voice that split a valley of dry bones and also called a dead man by name, call out every buried thing in your life today. May you walk out of this season the way Lazarus walked out of that tomb. Alive, free, and with nothing of the grave left on you.
