I LOST A PROSPECT TO HIMSELF THIS WEEK. He found me because he saw a website I just completed for a law firm. He was inspired by the work and loved the design. His own site, which he built himself, wasn't working for him. He wanted better design, better flow, and a better experience for his visitors. So I audited his site. I sent him an estimate. I even gave him free coaching along the way. A few days later, he told me he would do it himself. Again. I think the audit and the coaching gave him just enough fuel to believe this time would be different. That is self-deception. He runs a profitable company and has a high-paying career. What is an hour of his time worth? Is building a website the best use of it? If you have time but no money, DIY makes sense. If you have money but no time, hand it off. Too many businesses stall because high-value people spend their days on low-value tasks. Don't waste a $100 person on a $1 problem. What is one task you still do yourself that you should have handed off long ago?
