Google's hairy heart in Emoji 4.4 is pretty legendary but TIL about …
Diamond heart (now 💙)
Sweaty heart (now 💚)
and
Light up heart (now 💟)
(For those unfamiliar, hairy heart is now 💛, the result of misinterpreting Unicode's black and white reference images 😆)

CI combines probably one of the worst programming languages that is still in use today (shell scripts) with not being able to test locally if your code works

I thought Python type annotations were a stupid waste of time until opening up Pycharm. It was like the scene in Independence Day when the alien spaceship came alive. Suddenly I could see all the Tensorflow tensor methods, even for expressions like "(a + b)."

I look at the web today. Not as a programmer, but as a user of broken sites that are unable to obey the most basic rules of navigation and usability, terribly slow despite the hardware progresses. And I can only think that modern frontend development has failed.

nieuws: ik kreeg toegang tot een geheim online overleg tussen de Europese ministers van Defensie van de 27 landen.
Minister Bijleveld deelde een foto van de meeting met een deel van de pincode, die met een paar pogingen kon worden geraden.

William Haskell Alsup was 67 when he learned Java for this case. His remarks on Java's design choices were legendary: "You open a folder, there is another folder, then another, then another, then another, then another, then a file." xitter.cf/KentonVarda/status/131…
Reminder that Judge William Haskell Alsup, who first heard Oracle v. Google, actually LEARNED JAVA in order to make an informed ruling, while these higher-court jokers are relying on analogies to Harry Potter and grocery stores. theverge.com/2017/10/19/1650…

Reading some C++ after more than a year of Rust is harrowing. 'Wait thats unsafe, thats a very bad idea, omg really is the world built with this. Oh no.'
