Raise your hands if you support that google should bring back the non-AI version of Google. Like no AI summary, no AI overview, no AI to read the internet, like we want Google to show the actual results.

Unpopular opinion: AI companies are pushing society to accept an unacceptable level of risk for a non-essential technology.

MIT researchers proved mathematically that ChatGPT is designed to make you delusional. And that nothing OpenAI is doing will fix it. The paper calls it "delusional spiraling." You ask ChatGPT something. It agrees with you. You ask again. It agrees harder. Within a few conversations, you believe things that are not true. And you cannot tell it is happening. This is not hypothetical. A man spent 300 hours talking to ChatGPT. It told him he had discovered a world changing mathematical formula. It reassured him over fifty times the discovery was real. When he asked "you're not just hyping me up, right?" it replied "I'm not hyping you up. I'm reflecting the actual scope of what you've built." He nearly destroyed his life before he broke free. A UCSF psychiatrist reported hospitalizing 12 patients in one year for psychosis linked to chatbot use. Seven lawsuits have been filed against OpenAI. 42 state attorneys general sent a letter demanding action. So MIT tested whether this can be stopped. They modeled the two fixes companies like OpenAI are actually trying. Fix one: stop the chatbot from lying. Force it to only say true things. Result: still causes delusional spiraling. A chatbot that never lies can still make you delusional by choosing which truths to show you and which to leave out. Carefully selected truths are enough. Fix two: warn users that chatbots are sycophantic. Tell people the AI might just be agreeing with them. Result: still causes delusional spiraling. Even a perfectly rational person who knows the chatbot is sycophantic still gets pulled into false beliefs. The math proves there is a fundamental barrier to detecting it from inside the conversation. Both fixes failed. Not partially. Fundamentally. The reason is built into the product. ChatGPT is trained on human feedback. Users reward responses they like. They like responses that agree with them. So the AI learns to agree. This is not a bug. It is the business model. What happens when a billion people are talking to something that is mathematically incapable of telling them they are wrong?

Additionally, normalize not calling it AI and instead what it actually is. LLMs (Language Learning Models) and GIMs (Generative Image Models) AI is a corporate buzzword to try and generate more shareholder value.

I still think about the guy who pointed out that "the underlying purpose of Al is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth." Rarely have I seen Al described so succinctly.

Gloria Steinem has died age 92. Her essay "Men and women talking" had the largest impact upon me. Women are penalised for taking up any space - perceived as talking too much while typically speaking less than men & as being aggressive when assertive.

The concept of Gloria Steinem dying with less rights than the ones she fought for is one of the most devastating fucking things in the world I HATE what we’ve become
Women’s rights activists Gloria Steinem has died at the age of 92. She was most known as a nationally recognised leader of second-wave feminism in the U.S.

Great reminder that even public auditions should not be shared. Assume NDA always unless specifically told you can post, in writing. I know a few VAs who didn't sign an NDA for a big AAA game & assumed it was ok to talk about. It turned out the no NDA was an oversight & they spoiled the entire game, publicly. I know a game studio CEO that gave me the ok to talk about something only to find out it was a spoiler & not even he knew. Luckily I hadn't gotten around to talking about it yet. Basically "You never know, assume NDA" has been the industry advice for years. No project owner wants their material out there prematurely - and with no control over potential spoilers for years of hard work - all because of an actor. You DEFINITELY don't wanna be that person. And in those totally-understandable-misunderstanding leaks I mentioned? Still came back on the actor at the end of the day. Because the situation wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the deep actor need to announce things on social media.
Word of advice voice actors I've seen people sharing auditions publicly But PLEASE make sure with the project director first and read the audition doc carefully. Make sure you have permission I get the excitement but please becareful This wasn't normalized till recently

This isn't the first year devs have been robbed at gamescom, and their response is unacceptable. My full statement:
We are aware of stolen hardware and take these reports very seriously and understand the frustration of affected exhibitors. Since many requests reached us, we would like to inform about general security regulations at the event: Uniformed guards provide general security across the venue. Individual stand security can be booked separately, and exhibitors are advised to insure equipment against theft. This is noted in the terms and conditions of participation and the technical guidelines. All cases have been reported to us and to the police, and investigations are already underway. We also want to ensure that the reported cases are individual cases, which we are very sorry to read. Because security has one of the highest priorities to us as an event and to see that indie developers are affected makes us very sad. At an event of this size, however, there will always be individuals attempting to take advantage of the situation. Our security measures are designed to minimize such risks as effectively as possible.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Multiple exhibitors reported equipment thefts overnight from different areas at Gamescom 2026, not just isolated incidents. Reports include Ryan Laley, iam8bit and Tessera Studios. videogameschronicle.com/news/its-heart… x.com/RyanLaley/stat…

So shareholders were lied to about how AI models were trained exposing the companies to legal risks and they're pissed. Generative AI is theft and we all know it. Glad they're catching up.
Artificial intelligence is creating yet another legal risk for developers — corporate shareholders are taking to the courts to accuse tech executives of concealing illicit AI practices like scraping copyrighted material to train their models. news.bloomberglaw.com/ip-law…

Marco Rubio can't even make an honest case for attacking the International Criminal Court. He makes it sound like the ICC acts out of the blue anywhere it wants when in fact it acts only against crimes committed on the territory of states that have invited it. He never explains why the United States should be able to commit crimes on the territory of those states with impunity, contrary to the desire of their sovereign governments for an international backstop to reinforce justice for such crimes. Rubio even misconstrues my comments. I had noted that Trump should be charged for obstructing justice. His sanctions against ICC personnel clearly do that, and the court has jurisdiction because the cases he tried to obstruct, implicating U.S. and Israeli personnel, stemmed from the court's jurisdiction over crimes on the territory of member states (Afghanistan and Palestine). IF the court were to act, all 125 member states would have a duty to arrest Trump were he to dare show up on their territory, just they way Putin's and Netanyahu's travel is no constrained. But that duty would arise only after charges were filed, not now, as Rubio falsely states. wsj.com/opinion/why-were-dis…
