Visual Assist 2026.5 is out, and it's our biggest release yet. 🚀 Code Inspections can now check every file (or your whole solution) and let you apply fixes in bulk. You can now also use Claude Code, Codex, or the free local Gemma 4 model using VA Agent. ▶ Full release post: tinyurl.com/8suaapr4 #VisualAssist #Developers #Coding #DevTools

Some C++ codebases aren't measured in years, but decades. Semiconductor equipment software often runs on long-lived C++ code that controls motion, vision, sequencing, and factory communication. Read the full article: tinyurl.com/yv648fvp #VisualAssist #cpp #developers #DevTools #LegacyCode

"Where does my code go?" is the question people ask before installing any AI code assistant. So our guide walks through running one entirely on your own machine, inside Visual Studio. No account, no API key, nothing leaving your computer. You just need a decent GPU. 👉 Learn more: tinyurl.com/khbwbbfw #AI #LocalAI #Developers #Coding #VisualAssist

"Correct is not good enough." Volker Hillmann, writing C++ since 1991: a program can compile and pass every test it has, and still be the wrong addition to the system around it. Telling the difference is the skill AI makes more valuable. Republished with permission: tinyurl.com/jxy6b6zd #CplusPlus #Developers #Coding #AI

AI assistant renames a symbol. Declaration, definition, comments. Compiles. Reviewer approves. Build breaks on eleven call sites hiding inside a macro. The worst part was how confident it looked. One study put numbers on it. Devs who felt they were working faster were 19% slower. 👉 tinyurl.com/5f7p3ea5 #AI #Coding #Assistants #DevTools #Developers #cpp

Compiler support for C++ modules is still weird. Most libraries you'd want still don't ship as modules. Migrating an old codebase is still a huge, expensive project. Nothing against modules. It just hasn't reached what the 2020 hype suggested. Anyone here fully switched over? tinyurl.com/59vfhecb #Developers #Coding #Cpp

C++ coroutines are easy to write and miserable to read back. You write something that looks like top-to-bottom code. The compiler slices it into pieces that run whenever they're ready. Six months later, you're working out where a function picks back up. Used them in prod yet? Read: 👉 tinyurl.com/h24tuykr #Cpp #Coroutines #Coding #Developers #VisualAssist

C++26 has reflection. MSVC has nothing on it. No ETA, no announcement. And when it does land, figure 12- 24 months before it's usable. Classic "great feature, check back in a couple years." Very normal C++ experience. What's the last standard feature you used in production? Read more: tinyurl.com/2m8sdfj4 #Cpp26 #Developers #Coding #DevTools #VisualAssist

An Unreal solution has thousands of files. Chris needed one of them. He didn't open a single folder. Open File in Solution (Shift+Alt+O), type "shooter weapon," and the matches come up right away. Same trick in any large C++ solution. The bigger the codebase, the more you feel it. ▶ Download and try Visual Assist. An Unreal solution has thousands of files. Chris needed one of them.
