Head of Design at Stripe on how to stop creating zombie UIs
If we only use AI to make the things that we already make, just faster, then we're definitely missing out on the most interesting part. From my talk at @lennysan’s Summit, here are four ideas for raising the ceiling, not just the floor: - Have a point of view [5:38] - Encode your standards into the machine [9:07] - Don't confuse done with good [12:21] - Unleash creativity and artistry [16:19] Full talk here: youtu.be/GLvFTMtw4Jk?si=-5Ts…

Going thru all responses. Such wild variance!! General trends: - PRs per eng is up - Spend is anywwhere from $100/dev/month to ~$5,000. A few outliers in Big Tech at $20K+ - Very very very few teams ask about the ROI on the spend!! Or know how to measure. More want to tho
What is the PR output of your eng team, “before” and “after” adopting AI tools? And how much is your AI spend, per engineer, per month? Been collecting details+anonymising them: share details with me and I’ll share what other companies are seeing. It’s a very, very hot topic DM me

UI agents like Claude Design are about to split companies into two groups: 1. Companies that know you design the experience. They'll give experienced designers superpowers with these tools. 2. Companies that think design means interface. They'll cut as much design and as many designers as they possibly can. Which one are you?

working at a higher level of abstraction has always required understanding the lower level ones, I don't think coding agents changes this

Mistral Large 4 by @MistralAI just landed in the Code Arena: WebDev at #45. With 1534 pts, this is a +304 pt improvement from Mistral Large 3 at #130! This release also marks a 271-point improvement over its next-best-performing variant, Mistral Medium 3.5, at #122. Mistral Large 4 delivers performance within just 2 points of Claude Opus 4.8 (High) at a nearly 6× lower blended price: $3.47/M vs. $20/M tokens. Nearby but higher-performing models are available for less, keeping it just off the Code Arena: WebDev Pareto frontier. @MistralAI announced its open weights will be released at the end of October. Stay tuned for its score on Arena within open models, and congrats to the team on this release!
Meet Mistral Large 4, aka Le Chonk. • 1T parameters, natively multimodal. 49B active. It is the best open weights model from US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks. • State-of-the-art on critical workloads, including cyber defense, manufacturing and finance and it surpasses closed frontier models on visual grounding. • Forged in Europe end-to-end and is deployable from Europe via our own Mistral Cloud infrastructure. • Available to all via API today. Working with cybersecurity partners privately. Open weights release end of October.

I finally gave t3 code an actual try, it's very very very close to being something I'd daily drive. Blows the codex and claude desktop apps out of the water.

the right way to use model capabilities is not to ship 10x more features to prod it's to spend more time understanding your users, trying experiments, building prototypes, learning about things you don't understand so that you can ship things that actually work

so i have 40+ agents who go through my various emails, crms, slacks, etc and finds all the things i need to do. they tell me to do it, and i ignore it. so i vibe coded an app that gives all the agents a central place to tell me all the things to do. i look at it, and i ignore it. so then i open the app in codex and i tell codex to bully me into doing it...

in the next version of @opencode, file search is powered by fff - files the agent opens start ranking higher - tool calls reuse the same search layer instead of starting cold - less wasted context - fast af here’s me searching around the linux repo, a ~40m line codebase

We’ve agreed to a partnership with @SpaceX that will substantially increase our compute capacity. This, along with our other recent compute deals, means that we’ve been able to increase our usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API.
