"My great grandmother lived to 98 without vaccines." Lovely. Her six siblings who died before the age of five were unavailable for comment.

Ok I'm tired of this bullshit*t. But in any case, I'll indulge your sealioning nonsense. Yes, people were "treated" in ancient times with herbs and roots and rituals. They also routinely died at age 30 from diarrhea, a scratched knee, or a tooth infection. The argument that modern medicine is "overrated" because ancient people used "jadi buti" (herbs) relies on a spectacular cocktail of logical fallacies and errors in critical thinking. Saying "people managed back then" completely ignores the astronomical infant death rates and the millions who died in agony from infections that a basic antibiotic cures today in 48 hours or a simple drug prevents complications of in this era. You are looking only at the lucky survivors, not the overflowing ancient graveyards. This is your Survivorship Bias. The assumption that because something is old, it must be wise, effective, or true is common human stupidity. Bloodletting, drilling holes in skulls to release demons, and drinking mercury were also ancient medical traditions. Age is a measure of endurance, not of scientific validity. This is your Appeal to Antiquity Fallacy. The romanticized notion that "natural herbs" are inherently safer than "chemical tablets" is an idiocy that never dies in the minds of alternative medicine sympathizers like yourself. Nature is not your friend; it is actively trying to kill you just like "all natural" Ayurveda is too. When an ancient remedy passes rigorous scientific tests, it stops being "alternative medicine" and simply becomes medicine. But when a traditional treatment fails these tests, a rational, scientific system discards it. A dogmatic business promoting system keeps selling it anyway, pointing to 2,000-year-old texts as "proof." Also there is no modern Ayurveda. Ayurveda is, was, and always will be primitive medeival dmbfckery. Hope this was sensible enough. Please don't waste my time anymore.
A question to @theliverdoc People were treated in ancient times when there were no tablets but "jadi buti" and medicinal herbs etc. Modern Ayurveda is based on that only so how it is non-scientific and inferior...I hope you will give a good sensible point

What kind of civil servants are these? 124 former IAS/IFS officers writing a letter defending the Election Commission and SIR, while completely ignoring the constitutional principle of institutional independence and the growing public distrust. They claim to “belong to no party,” yet rush to shield the CEC the moment citizens demand accountability. Is this genuine concern for democracy, or are they simply doing the bidding of the ruling dispensation? When facts around SIR are stark and thousands of legitimate voters report exclusion, what prompts retired bureaucrats to issue such a one-sided certificate? These officers have not defended the Constitution. They have betrayed its spirit.

Most Indians don't know this, but the Dreze family are literally academic royalty in Belgium. Jean's brother the late Xavier Dreze was a highly regarded Marketing professor at UCLA's Anderson School of Management. He was one of the very very few who could do both modeling and consumer behavior research. He died very young at age 48. His obituary says he was a true polymath with multiple academic and sporting talents. Jean's father the late Jacques Dreze was an economist at the Université Catholique de Louvain. He was a highly regarded economist and the first president of the European Economic Association. He has collaborated with nobel laureates Robert Aumann and Franco Modigliani and his publication record is comparable with the best in the field. Jean Dreze could have had a very cushy life with his family legacy, white skin and European passport. Even in India, he could have been a social butterfly flitting in and out of five star hotels and running think tanks funded hy veated interests. Instead, he took Indian citizenship, learnt Hindi and roughs it out in rural Jharkhand. He designed many schemes and his footprint is all over Indian economic policy. You may like him or hate him. But Jean Dreze is more Indian than anyone who was born Indian, including you and me. He chose to be Indian. And he has dedicated his life to India. Think of this the next time some illiterate journalist asks "Who is Jean Dreze?"

Manhandled, dragged, assaulted n misbehaved inside a police vehicle and dumped by the roadside - for the crime of speaking to the media. This is not merely an assault on an MP. It is an assault on democratic freedoms and the rule of law. More chillingly, it happened within hours of the Supreme Court issuing directions to safeguard peaceful protest and constitutional rights. I have written to the Hon’ble President of India @rashtrapatibhvn , the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha @VPIndia and the Chief Justice of India seeking urgent intervention and fixing accountability for the police personnel, and action on the question of parliamentary privilege. The Government cannot intimidate democracy into silence. It cannot substitute the force of the baton for the force of debate. And it shouldn’t expect the people to surrender their constitutional freedoms merely because those in power find dissent inconvenient. The strength of a democracy lies not in its capacity to suppress dissent, but in its ability to address it.

Hello @DCPNewDelhi, What more proof do you want? You can see the same goons taking out sticks stored in the car.
Lol. No criminal records? Both these goons were sitting inside the same car.

Another exhibit- listen to this young man talk calmly about world history and lessons for democracy- no sloganeering, no shouting, just answering my questions. And next thing you know police picks him up and detains him. And the body language of the policeman when I question him about it is telling. “भाग जाओ” am told. Absolutely disgusting. Police reforms are sensitisation is long overdue but the Delhi police only seem capable of weepy self pitying videos. Such arrogance!

Draconian restrictions. A crush of troops. Detentions taking place far away from the designated zone. My take on the dubious legal basis of today’s crackdown in Delhi.

Lot of illiterates in Journalism ... especially in video journalism ... Remembering a big goof-up during 1997 or 1998 live debate during trust vote in Parliament Home Minister Indrajit Gupta was giving byte to media about trust vote .... A lady journalist asked him : Sir, are you an MP? Reply : I am not only an MP, but also Home Minister of this country... Not naming the lady journo .... she later became PR head of a big organisation 😎
Why should a young reporter know who Jean Dreze is? If he/she doesn’t know & asks him, it is what a reporter is supposed to do. Ask. Just coz he was in NAC during UPA (years ago) doesn’t make him a recognisable face to young reporters. The know it all ‘seniors’ need to chill
