Meet the team - next in line. Nicolai aka Kobber, Member of Technical Staff. Nicolai and I go back close to 8 years, with one brief stint away that we've agreed to call "a rounding error." His work is genuinely impressive. The kind of engineer where you review the code, find nothing, and quietly close the laptop. His humor is the driest in any office he enters. Somewhere between British and Sahara. Deadpan delivery, devastating timing, and mood swings only Homer Simpson can match. "D'oh" to "woohoo!" within a single standup. Three down. At this rate I'll still be introducing people at Christmas, so I should probably find a format that scales better than one post per human.

New hire #1. Meet Thomas, Member of Technical Staff. Thomas and I worked together for close to 10 years at Lunar. Not just the fun parts - all of it. Every "this is impossible" that later shipped. He's the most solid, stand-up guy I know, and the deepest thinker in any room he's in. Which is annoying, because he's also the last one to speak - and then he's right. He's also a disturbingly swift runner. I've publicly committed to beating him before launch. The team has started a betting pool. The odds are unkind. What we're building: still can't say. Who we're building it with: now you know one of them.
