I am loving this change in the weather. I feel like I can breathe again. The light is changing and something in the air is shifting. Autumnās peeping its head round the corner and the countryside and coast I love feels more beautiful to me than it has all summer.
Miraculously managed to get up at 5am and Iām so glad I did. The beautiful Arctic Corsair making her last voyage out of Albert Dock, along the Humber & down the River Hull, away to North End Shipyard. Canāt wait to see her & get aboard. A beautiful morning in the maritime city š
Went to sit in a field last night to watch the eclipse, and as we were watching, this happened. He ran right across the field towards us, stopped about six feet away from where I was sitting, had a look at us and ran off again. Absolute magic š
It was an absolute pleasure to get a preview of @HullMaritime Maritime Museum yesterday before it reopens to the public tomorrow. Itās absolutely brilliant. I wrote about it in full for @StoryHull but hereās some more little snippets š

Brilliant stuff from @angus_young61 on the use of Royal Station Hotel to house asylum seekers.
Replying to @angus_young61
Heās right about the hugely negative economic and cultural impact on Hull city centre resulting from decisions taken 7-8 years ago without any local consultation.

Only good thing about weather this warm is at least the washing dries quick.
Other than that? Absolute bollocks. 0/10.
Got some cool air and rain on the river this morning before it burns up again this afternoon. Now to batten down the hatches until this hot madness is over.

Who doesn't care about local waterways, water supply and rising bills? Every single one of Hull's new Reform councillors! Last week Hull's Labour & Lib Dem councillors voted to put pressure on the govt to clean up our water. Every Reform councillor chose not to support the motion

ALT Image shows male hands drawing water from a tap into a drinking glass. Accompanying headline reads: Hull City Council calls on Government to renationalise Yorkshire Water. Council leader Mike Ross is set to write to the Secretary of State for Environment demanding action on rising bills and sewage discharges.
Iām so looking forward to this on Saturday. Thereāll be birdsong, mindfulness, conversations about form, language, imagery, voice and identity. Plus some of my favourite bird poems & a bonus song about a pigeon. 4 hours together, so we can really get some work done. Price = FREE.
Been A LOT of talk about tactical voting in these local elections. I ā¤ļø a good spreadsheet so Iāve made this - tactical voting advice vs results. Rows in green are where the tactical voting advice was rightā¦
Weāve got to do it all again next year, so think on.
