Microtransactions are like washing dishes.
You can eat take away straight from the container (no MT) or eat at a restaurant and they wash it (subscription).
At home someone has to do it if we want clean plates, but let's not kid ourselves that anyone likes doing it.

I think this particular case is just an accident, but this is representative of the level of care the industry has towards consumer rights. Ubisoft sold HoMM 3 and didn't include the actual game.

We’re not trying to make a game that checks every box for every possible player. Knight’s Path has a specific vision and a specific experience it wants to deliver: playing as a young man growing into a capable warrior and knight.
Of course men enjoy playing female characters too. Lara Croft proved that decades ago. But many of us also love RPGs where we can step into the boots of a masculine male protagonist, identify with him, and live out that particular fantasy.
That’s the audience we’re making Knight’s Path for. Not every game needs to offer every option, and we’d rather fully commit to one experience than dilute it trying to be everything for everyone.
