This took me a while to finish. My new book "Dark Machines - How Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization and Automation is Changing our Living Planet" can now be pre-ordered at Routledge (UK/US).

It contains 10 chapters, exploring questions like how AI connects to the Anthropocene; the growing influence of intelligent machines in sectors such as farming and forestry; novel systemic risks for sustainability; and the need for algorithmic resistance for people and planet.

Rounding off my research visit to Hiroshima and Nagasaki after meeting with researchers, peace activists and hibakusha - nuclear survivors after the atomic bombs in the two cities.
I'm incredibly humbled and moved after spending time with Koko Kondo and Dr. Masao Tomonaga - both legendary hibakusha and peace activists. Dr. Tomonaga was in the midst of preparing for his trip to Oslo to be part of the delegation to receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

Yesterday @COP29_AZ, MDBs announced that they estimate their public #climatefinance for low- and middle-income countries will rise 60% from $74.9bn in 2023 to $120bn/yr by 2030, and that this will mobilize $65bn in private finance. $185bn from MDBs alone. Good sign for #NCQG
