i’m no longer part of the arcane fandom, nor do i have any intention of returning, so consider this the last time i’ll be addressing jayviks. since 2021, mel fans have spent an exhausting amount of time defending her character against the same recycled narratives, misrepresentations and attempts to diminish her importance to the story. we’ve written threads, provided screenshots, cited the show itself and addressed practically every argument imaginable. it’s now 2026. arcane ended almost two years ago, and somehow we’re STILL seeing the same discourse being resurrected with the same arguments and the same supposed evidence. at what point do we acknowledge that there’s simply nothing left to discuss? i’m not interested in spending another however many years repeating arguments that were already thoroughly addressed two years ago. if someone genuinely wants to understand why mel fans disagree with these narratives, the information has been publicly available for years. i’m not going to keep explaining myself to people who have shown little interest in engaging with those explanations. but what i find especially interesting is how much of this discourse continues to revolve around mel fans themselves… because while some people are still arguing about mel’s place in jayce’s story, we’ve been enjoying everything she’s become beyond it. she’s a champion in league, she’s getting new skins, new lore and an increasingly independent identity within runeterra. there’s an entire future for her character that has nothing to do with relitigating a relationship from a show that ended in 2024. mel fans have moved forward. we don’t really want jayvik shippers to follow in our footsteps, but they cannot keep expecting us to come back. maybe that’s what jayvik shippers are struggling to accept… mel’s relevance was never dependent on jayce, viktor or their relationship, and neither is our appreciation of her. i have absolutely no interest in returning to a fandom where so much of my time was spent defending a character i loved instead of simply being allowed to enjoy her. i’m choosing to spend that energy celebrating mel’s future rather than arguing about her past. that’s all i have left to say on the matter.
