Big-name logos in a deck are worth taking seriously, but a trial is easy for a big company to say yes to. The question we ask is simple: if the customer switched it off tomorrow, what would break?

“Uber for X” became “OS for X.” Windows earned that name because everything else had no choice but to build on it, not because it ran programs well. Real test: does switching away genuinely hurt, and does it move the P&L, not just tidy emails. Curious if “OS” survives 18 months.

AI is a physical goods trade category now, not just software. The WTO just raised its 2026 trade forecast to ~4%, crediting AI infrastructure. AI hardware made 47% of H1 trade growth, up 67% YoY, and it’s the hardest category to classify and finance. globaltrademag.com/wto-more-…

Good that the US-China truce got extended, but on rare earths it doesn't change much. China still does about 90% of the processing. If I were building separation or magnet capacity anywhere else, I wouldn't plan around a deal that expires in January.

Descartes just put an AI agent on top of 500M+ shipment records a year. Useful, but it tells you where this is heading. If anyone can query public trade data in seconds, it's no longer an edge. What we look for now is the transaction data nobody else can see.

Think about this when someone says B2B isn’t sexy: What’s sexier than making freight move 10% faster? What's sexier than giving SMEs real-time access to capital? What's sexier than fixing how the world trades? Now we're talking!

A mental model we use at Verb: no single-player mode, that’s how we think about early liquidity. We pass on marketplaces where one side of the trade can survive without the platform. Platform = indispensable, or it’s a feature.
