My heart breaks for the good men who’ve been reading in public for years. The sweet guys who never wanted any part of this male reading culture war but are now on the frontline. They’re at risk of being labeled “performative” and lumped in with the bad men who read. I hope they don’t get radicalized.

There are a great many laments over the death of book review sections in America. I share those. But it's time to talk solutions. @the_met_review reviews books regularly and is trying to fill the void. It can be done. Be part of the solution. metropolitanreview.org/p/rev…

People DO want to lead literary lives, read physical media, and have venues in their communities that build authentic relationships, as well as to learn about the world around them without an algorithm determining their interests — all while supporting small and local businesses and doing so on their own terms, as it turns out.
Wonderful news from the world of books. Over the past five years, independent booksellers have surged in number by 70%. Last year alone, over 400 new indies opened their doors and began spilling joy into their communities. Here’s that story and more 👉 millersbookreview.com/p/book…
