or at the very least pro-poverty, which equates to the same thing; Before 'surplus value' came the destitution and degradation necessary to force you and me to sell our labor to a capitalist; poverty created capitalists, and to eradicate capital we must eradicate poverty.

We've built an economic system where farmers get paid to destroy crops, landlords profit from housing shortages, pharmaceutical companies profit from illness, and banks profit from debt.
Then we teach students that markets efficiently coordinate human needs.
Fucking incredible.

What if.. you just returned all land to the commons, and granted only usufruct over that which you use individually, or we use collectively.
What if, your 'property' didn't need a state to enforce it.
What if, your community didnt need an external judge to render 'justice'?

I need people understand that understaffing isn't a bug of where you work, or your manager being a dick, but a feature of a system constantly trying to minimize its biggest cost (labor). Every place I've ever worked it's presented as a perpetually temporary problem. It isn't.
Capitalism doesnt impress me.

Even with statistical margins of error taken into account, Soviet economic stability was undeniable:
1 GDP Volume: by the 1970s, the Soviet GDP was the 2nd largest in the world, generating nearly 20% of total global industrial output and rivaling the United States in key manufacturing sectors.
2 Growth & Production: the USSR ranked #1 globally in steel, oil extraction, cement, heavy machinery, and space technologies.
3 Population & Demographics: steady population growth, zero unemployment, guaranteed housing (capped at under 3% of household income), and full literacy.
4 Social Policy: state-funded healthcare, free higher education, and guaranteed social safety nets that shielded citizens from inflation and market crashes.
5 Cold War Stance: the USSR sustained global military parity, space exploration leadership, and funded decolonization movements across the Global South without relying on predatory foreign debt.
What if the USSR won the Cold War? If the Soviet Union hadn't collapsed, the world today would look radically different: a multipolar global economy immune to Wall Street crashes, no Western "shock therapy" that impoverished millions in the 90s, and OGAS, a nationwide computerized planning network, automating the economy decades before the modern internet.
Holy shit; a marxist just made the liberal argument: "Better things arent possible!".
Marx is turning in his grave right now; Jesus christ.

Well, still waiting for anarchists to prove there's a way around it, one that is reachable and widely applicable so that all of humanity might be liberated.
Critiques like this sadly lose all their weight if they can't show an alternative to get over capitalism.

Millennials realizing they’ve lived through 2 economic recessions, 9/11, a global pandemic, 8 stock market crashes, their jobs being replaced by AI, and probably WW3 before hitting 43
A person can expect better justice in a prison than in modern capitalist society.
I've noticed that victims of mass incarceration *still* produce better justice than the 'justice system' itself; while the people who defend the justice system ignore injustice.
When someone tells you that the market enables freedom; remember these kinds of examples.
A grown woman regretting her choices because a marketplace made her job not worth doing somehow.
The 'revolution' to recreate the state in private form with less accountability.
The American revolutionaries sent multiple petitions to King George III, but after they were rejected, they realized there was no political solution.
Today, you are not only not represented but also completely ignored in any call for freedom and liberty. It's time to realize there is no political solution.
Normalizing your chains and calling it 'adulthood' doesnt make the domination of markets go away, champ.
