Some of the most important names in Avatar were chosen to honor people who left a lasting impact on the characters' lives. 🥺 Katara named her daughter Kya to keep the memory of her mother alive, whom she lost during her childhood. Izumi followed the same path by naming her son Iroh, in honor of the uncle who was like a father to Zuko. Meanwhile, Aang chose the name Bumi for his firstborn son, remembering his old friend and the King of Omashu. And there's a really cool reference involving the name Kuzon... He was Aang's friend from the Fire Nation before the Hundred Year War, and it was the name Aang used as an alias when he disguised himself in the Fire Nation during the series' third season. In Avatar: Seven Havens, Kuzon is also the name of the authority figure in New Ba Sing Se, one of the refuges in the new Avatar world. Beyond the reference to Aang, they probably chose this name to show how cultures have blended over the years, to the point where Fire Nation names are now being used by citizens of the Earth refuge. These are the kinds of details that show how the past continues to live on in new generations! ❤️
