Always check to see what the vegan option is. Even if you’re not vegan, just doing that much puts you far ahead of 99% of everyone else.

Two crucial things that many vegans should focus on before going vegan, but don't.

Good reporting and some careful thinking about the seemingly worldwide decline in the numbers of vegan restaurants.
I became very angsty about the great dying of vegan restaurants after my neighborhood spot announced its closure this month. I wanted to know whether this is a real trend (& found that it's indeed probably real) & to what degree it even matters for the animal movement, beyond 1/

Get in the habit of asking your fellow vegans if they're taking their B-12. You'll be shocked by how many have no idea it's crucial!

When you encounter a vegan who is not taking their B-12, ask, beg, and demand them to read this. Knowing this stuff can prevent disaster! vegan.com/health/b12/

Lots of discouraging stuff here, but the pendulum will inevitably swing the other way. Even now, there are still countless terrific vegan foods and restaurants that weren't available five years ago. sfgate.com/food/article/cali…

Time to start looking out during your shopping trips for sweet potatoes, winter squash, persimmons, and apples. Vegans doubtless do a better job than most people of following the seasons, but there are still plenty of vegans who don't take advantage of local seasonal produce. It's the easiest way to eat better, cheaper, fresher food!

Listen to Joyce (but keep in mind that eggs probably have more misery per mouthful than beef). vegan.com/info/eggs/
oh please, just stop eating meat. grazing herds are such a waste. if you had to slaughter your own animals, dismember, eviscerate, you'd likely say oh gosh maybe just an omelet tonight would be fine, veggies & multigrain bread.

🥕🫜🥦🍆Your local market has dozens of different vegetables. What a shame to buy the same few items every time you shop. This week, why not make a point of purchasing a few varieties you have never prepared, or haven't eaten in ages? Beyond livening up your salads, almost any vegetable is great roasted or in stir-fries.

Newborn dairy calves, for their first few months of life.
That’s not a farm. That’s a prison. A torturing concentration camp for animals. No wonder the USA has such terrible animal welfare and food standards. 🎦 Credit: Jessie Vernon.

Pretty much all the supplement advice you encounter online is from influencers trying to sell you something. My supplement page has no ads or affiliate links, so there's nothing in it for me—just good deals on supplements of special interest to vegans. vegan.com/health/vitamins/

This girl totally nails the annoyingly insincere vegan influencer trope that probably (hopefully) repels ten times more people than it attracts.
