JUST IN 🚨
Ayra Starr’s “Commas” is now certified GOLD in France. 🇫🇷📀
— It’s her 5th song to achieve the milestone in the country, the most for a female Nigerian act. 👏🏾
Waking up at 3am to post this delulu script is crazy mehn 💀
I lowkey feel sorry for Ayra Starr because i genuinely think she’s struggling to establish a distinct identity in the industry. Almost everything she does lately seems to invite comparisons to Tyla. It feels like she’s watching Tyla’s playbook and picking out things to recreate, from the way she dresses to the belly dancing.
And the problem is, Tyla has already made that aesthetic her own. So when Ayra does it, it doesn’t necessarily feel fresh or original. It feels like we’ve seen it before, and sometimes, we’ve seen it done better.
Don’t get me wrong, Ayra is talented, but i feel like her brand has lost some of the individuality that initially made her stand out. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to separate her image from Tyla’s. She’s starting to look like just another girl following an already established formula rather than the Ayra Starr we were introduced to.
I genuinely wonder whether her team recognises this, because she’s too talented to spend her career being perceived as someone else’s imitation. She needs to find her own lane.
