IS ECOSYSTEM ANTI-CEC CAMPAIGN RIDING ON BACK OF INDIAN EXPRESS REPORT DONE, BRO? Here's what the EC'S affidavit in SC means: 1. SIR ‘RIFT’ THEORY COLLAPSES? ECI says all three SIR orders were unanimously approved by the CEC and both Election Commissioners. 2. FILE NOTINGS ARE NOT COMMISSION DECISIONS: ECI says internal queries and suggestions are routine, not evidence of a split. The July 28 work-allocation order was never implemented after a joint direction by both ECs. 3. FORM 6 ‘TAMPERING’ CLAIM REBUTTED: ECI says Form 6 has not been amended. It acknowledges the online display could cause confusion and says the digital process will separate Form 6 from the SIR declaration, as in the physical process. 4. SIR DOES NOT MEAN MASS HEARINGS: Unmapped voters need not routinely appear for hearings. BLOs will collect documents at home, with hearings reserved for exceptional cases, preferably online. 5. ECINet ‘VOTE DELETION’ CLAIM CHALLENGED: ECI says no voter can be added or deleted without an ERO’s order. It cites an IIT-IISc expert committee and clarifies the Goa figures behind claims of excluded voters. 6. PLEA AGAINST CEC’S FUNCTIONING ‘NOT MAINTAINABLE’: ECI says the petition rests on a single news report, denies authorising media leaks and argues that the CEC can be removed only through the constitutional process applicable to a Supreme Court judge. It seeks time to file a detailed reply.
