Today I listen to a sad story…
A faculty member abused their power to undermine an excellent, hard working and honest staff member.
What is disheartening is….
…to see this faculty join #DEJI committees just to boost their resume and appearance, yet they are the aggressor against minorities behind closed doors.
True commitment to diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion goes beyond appearances…it requires real action and integrity.
Imagine if all those APCs go to journals published by scientific societies (e.g. @theAGU @EuroGeosciences).
Most scientific societies give back a portion of APCs to support members’ programs (e.g., travel grants, offset costs for low income countries).

Thanks to Neal Saab and Steve Zeng for organizing an all female group to speak at IAFP on metals in foods, which I was proud to be part of. Lots of great perspectives from FDA, USDA, academics, industry and non-profits. @IAFNS_science @USDA_NIFA @US_FDA @UDcanr @UDResearch
