We did not build hubs.li/Q04zDnsq0 from scratch. We built it on Varbase Starter, the same template we just made free. It is the general-purpose base under the whole Marketplace launch. One install composes 24 recipes into a working site. A Canvas home page, a blog, demo content, search and editorial workflow, ready on first boot. It is the recipe-first successor to the old Varbase profile. The three sector templates, Horizon Aid, Educare and The Rightup, are all built on top of it. Start here when you want a clean Drupal foundation and your own design, not a sector template. Developers building their own site templates start here too. Free and open source, from the team behind Varbase. Preview it, install it, or build your next template on it. Link in the first comment.

A newsroom site has one job. Get the new story in front of readers before it goes stale. The Rightup is a free Drupal site template built for exactly that. It installs a full publication. News and podcasts, section pages, author pages, a newsletter and a live feed ticker on the home page. Publish an article and it reaches the ticker on its own. No one edits the home page to make it appear. Search comes with filters for category, type and date. Podcasts ship with audio and transcripts. Editors shape every layout in Drupal Canvas, without code. Built by Vardot, from years of work with newsrooms and publishers. Preview it, install it, or send it to your editorial team. A university website has to serve prospective students, current students, researchers and parents. Usually it serves none of them well. Educare is a starting point that does. It is a free Drupal site template for schools, universities and academies. It installs a full education site. Programs, admissions, research, student life, events, news and contact, ready on first boot. Editors build new sections from ready-made patterns, so a new program page matches the design without a developer. Every page is built in Drupal Canvas. All 124 public pages are tested to WCAG 2.2 AA with zero accessibility violations, the standard most institutions are required to meet. Built by Vardot, the team behind Varbase, with years of work for universities. Template: hubs.li/Q04zD9VH0

Most humanitarian websites are built by three people with no time and no budget for custom development. Horizon Aid is for them. It is a free Drupal site template that installs a complete NGO website. Programs, the countries you work in, events, resources, a donate page and a newsletter sign-up. All there on first install, with twelve country pages of demo content you replace with your own. Editors change every page in Drupal Canvas, without code. Nothing tracks your visitors by default. Every public page is tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, so the people who rely on you can actually use the site. Built by Vardot, from years of work with humanitarian and UN organizations. Preview it, install it, or send it to the nonprofit team that needs it. Link: hubs.li/Q04zD8P00

The new Health First website just won a Splash Award. Health First runs hospitals and its own health insurer. One website serves patients looking for care and members shopping for plans, under one brand. Vardot rebuilt Health First on Drupal 11 as one codebase and one domain, with a front door that routes each audience into an experience built for them. It launched ahead of Medicare open enrollment and won the Healthcare category at the International Splash Awards 2026, presented at DrupalCon Rotterdam. The case study covers the architecture decision behind it. Read the full case study: hubs.li/Q04zDkxm0

Four things enterprise teams keep getting wrong about AI in publishing: 1. Picking the model before the guardrails 2. Letting AI tools live outside the system of record 3. No audit trail when something goes wrong 4. Treating governance as a feature, not the foundation Dries called Drupal's answer its "accidental AI advantage" at Rotterdam. ↳ The workflows, revisions, and access controls AI needs are already in the platform (no bolt-on required). Our breakdown shows how it works, from MCP connections to shadow AI. P.S. Which of the four is your team still getting wrong? For enterprise teams, the hold-up on new software is usually vendor onboarding, not the software. Varbase is now on Microsoft Marketplace. You can add it through the Microsoft agreement your organization already holds. hubs.li/Q04vvgfR0 #Varbase #Drupal #MicrosoftMarketplace

Can AI actually read your Drupal site? Not "do you rank." Whether an assistant can find, understand, and quote your content. It comes down to 5 areas. Here they are, plus a free scorecard: hubs.li/Q04tbNTt0

AI reads structure, not PDFs. If your key facts are buried in a file or one big body field, assistants guess, and guessing means skipping you. Structured content is now the difference between getting cited and disappearing: hubs.li/Q04tbHzs0

2 years ago the question was "do we rank?" Now it's "can AI even read our site?" A Drupal site can pass every old SEO check and still be invisible to ChatGPT and Google's AI answers. We wrote up the 5 things that decide it, plus a free scorecard: hubs.li/Q04tbwgv0

Your Drupal site can rank on Google and still be invisible to AI. People don't click blue links now. They read what ChatGPT and Google's AI write back. If AI can't read your site, it can't quote you. AI readiness comes down to 5 things. Score yours in 3 minutes, free: hubs.li/Q04tb7ZD0

Is your CMS a revenue system or a cost line? Five questions: vendor freedom, record completeness, platform count, visibility feedback, AI governance. If the answers point to manual reconciliation, the gap is architectural. Article: hubs.li/Q04t9Kny0

A CMS becomes a revenue system the moment it stops publishing in isolation. Three things close the gap: CRM integration with no lock-in, governed AI, and one platform for content, community, and commerce. Our CEO @moerazem on all three: hubs.li/Q04t9CB20

AI can make your university site more findable. It can't make it more trustworthy. That single line decides where AI belongs in recruitment, and where it becomes a risk the institution ends up carrying. Catalog tagging, translation, accessibility checks: safe. Faculty bios, mass content, replacing counselors: not. The test that separates the two is simpler than most AI policies make it. The article works it through against real evidence (including a randomized trial most people quote wrong). P.S. Where would your program-finder land on this list?
