Open data infrastructure for human-grounded AI

What comes after centralized/isolated AI? Decentralized/Collaborative AI.
A good framing when trying to build a difficult benchmark task is to consider what it would look like at the next level. Think of the different levels of self-driving cars and how each one is qualitatively more difficult than the prior one (cruise control, lane assist, ..., full autonomy). Imagine yourself in some R&D department solving the problem corresponding to the task you're working on. After that problem is solved, what comes next? What is Moderna working on after Covid? How is Starship more difficult than Falcon?

The walled garden cannot stand in the age of AI
OpenClaw is act one of consumers building automations on their own data And as agents spread to the mainstream, I predict there is going to be backlash re: how hard Apple makes it to access data via API Ex. Why can’t I reliably pull my own ScreenTime info? 🤔

We built a private backend where your files, context, and compute are portable and local. Give it to agents, build new apps with it. Here's how to use @vana Data Connect for importing and serving your personal data: 1. exports your personal data (ChatGPT, LinkedIn, Spotify, GitHub, etc) without sending your credentials anywhere 2. then turn on your Personal Server to provision your personal data to apps 1. Install Data Connect and import personal data

How data portability works on @vana: - you control your data with your keys - full audit trail of access, whether from agents or apps - fast! ~50ms to permission data
🧵 We designed a protocol that lets users port their private data across applications with cryptographic access control and onchain audit trails. Here's how the Data Portability Protocol works. (thread)

There's a massive shift happening in software right now: AI is making platforms adversarial toward their own users. Platforms, from legacy software tools to new LLMs with built-in memory, want to keep your data and context locked in as their moat. But users want their context to travel with them across every AI application. The legal framing is clear: you have full legal ownership of your data, the same way you own your car even if it's parked in a parking lot. But platforms can make it incredibly inconvenient to actually get it. GDPR and CCPA requests are buried deep in settings menus and take days to weeks to return your data. Today we're releasing DataConnect, an open source tool that automatically grabs your deep, cross-platform data and stores it locally. It allows you to pull data that has never been available via API: ChatGPT memories, full Shopify purchase history, YouTube watch history, and makes it portable for any AI builder to use as context. Compute runs client-side, with data stored on your machine. You can build data connectors for any platform you want with a single Claude code prompt. What would you build if a user showed up already carrying all their ChatGPT memories, their sleep history, and their music taste from the past few years? Try it out: github.com/vana-com/data-con… Builders want portable data, and users want portable data. The only groups that don't want portable data are those that are trying to build a moat around data they don't legally own. Announcing DataConnect: an open source desktop app that pulls your cross-platform data in one click. Platforms lock your context in: there's no API to get your Shopify purchases, ChatGPT memories + conversations, or Spotify listen history. Try it out: account.vana.org/download-da…

When markets turn red, hate spreads on CT, and the GMs get ignored. Amidst the chaos, real users lose their voice. To change that, we partnered with @0G_labs, @vana, @wormhole, @miranetwork, and @MagmaStaking to show that real onchain users do exist. Mint your POAPs here ↓

Had a great chat with about decentralized AI at @ADFinanceWeek yesterday. Quick takeaway: deAI isn’t here to replace AI, it just adds new ways to scale through ownership, incentives, and user-powered data that centralized systems can’t reach

The @nytimes is suing @OpenAI. The reason? Lead counsel @stevemlieberman explains on my new podcast, THE PEOPLE'S AI, presented by @vana. The lawyer's primary allegation: "It steals." (Listen to full convo and subscribe via link-in-bio at @The_Peoples_AI)

🗺️Public data is well-trodden. The next edge for #AI is private, user-owned data. Brevis and @vana are teaming up to unlock private-data #AI with ZK-powered provenance & compute. However there are 3 things required for this to become reality. 🧵

Owning your data doesn’t have to be so serious. It was such a joy meeting our Korean community irl last week 🇰🇷. We turned their Spotify data into custom ice cream and LaVuVus. Your data says a lot about you. Any other ideas for fun things to turn your data into? @v_on_vana @vanakorea @Vana_TR

Excited to share that Anna Kazlauskas, creator of @withvana and CEO of Open Data Labs, will be joining Flower AI Day in San Francisco! 🚀 Earlier in March Flower and @withvana announced COLLECTIVE-1: an incredibly ambitious effort to build the world's first user-owned foundation model. Come hear @annakaz highlight the latest progress towards this goal and how you can join in! More broadly Anna’s work bridges the domains of user-owned data and AI, and is behind many innovations like DataDAOs that empower individuals to pool, govern, and benefit from their data. With a background spanning MIT CSAIL, and early contributions to Celo, she brings a unique perspective on how decentralized technologies can reshape AI. 🎟️ Don’t miss the chance to hear from Anna and other leading voices — grab your tickets before they’re gone: buff.ly/ZO91TwO

We have been auditing the @vana ecosystem for over an extended period, and we’re excited to share why this project matters. Vana isn’t just another chain. It’s an EVM‑compatible Layer‑1 built to fuel AI with user‑owned data. Through DataDAOs, people can: 🔐 Pool and encrypt their data 🤝 Monetize contributions & earn rewards 🧠 Power next‑gen AI models without giving up privacy On our last two audits, our team at Hashlock reviewed 12+ critical contracts across their core protocol & DataDAO layer, uncovering and resolving important issues to make sure $VANA launches on a secure foundation. Vana and Hashlock bring some benefits to web3: ✅ Long‑term collaboration ✅ Secure Advanced AI data infrastructure ✅ A future where users own a share of the AI economy We trust Vana’s vision — and we’re proud to help secure it. 🌐: hashlock.com/blog/vana-audit… #Web3 #AI #DataDAOs #SmartContractAudit #Hashlock #VANA
