Davante Adams reveals he has made $200,000,000 in his career while saving almost everything and spending only 1% of his NFL earnings "I made $200 million, now." "If I go like get myself a new watch or something like that, like I still cringe doing that." "This, uh, chocolate Patek Philippe Aquanaut. But if, but if I wanted to go sell this right now, I'm, I'm making money right now. Taylor Lewan: “That's an investment on your wrist." Adams: "I've spent maybe 1% of the money that I've made in the league, like I've spent it. I've saved everything."

Lou Williams reveals to Allen Iverson that the Sixers front office benched him while averaging 20+ points, leading Iverson to reflect on how his pride and ego ultimately pushed him out of the league. Iverson: "And I think I committed professional suicide by letting it be known that I had a problem with coming off the bench." Iverson: "And that was my ego, that was my pride. You know what I mean? My whole life I've never, that wasn't my thing." Lou: "They pulled me in the office and was like, look, AI going to start because we feel like in Philly he should start...and we going to have you come off the bench. I was averaging 20 plus points a game at that time." Iverson: "So I started coming off the bench when he came back out of love and respect for him, and I never got a shot again after that." Howard Schultz had 60 days to raise $3.8 million and buy Starbucks. Halfway there, one of his own investors went behind his back with an all-cash offer for the whole company. In the video below, Howard tells the story himself. It was 1987. Howard had raised a third of the money. The founder called him in: “I’ve got an all-cash offer. Howard, I just have to take it.” From who? “One of your investors.” Howard had no way to fight one of the most powerful men in Seattle. So a friend took him to see his boss, Bill Gates Sr. Gates asked two questions. Is everything you told me true? Have you left anything out? Then: “We’re going to take a walk.” They walked straight into the investor’s office. Gates stood over his desk and told him to stand down, and that Howard and Starbucks would never hear from him again. Howard bought Starbucks for $3.8 million. Gates Sr. never told a soul. Decades later, Howard told the story on stage. Bill Gates found him afterward and asked, “Who’s the guy?” He never knew what his father had done. Was that investor just doing business, or was it a betrayal?

Trillionaire mindset: "I believe in my ability to figure it out more than I believe in any obstacle."
Trillionaire mindset be like: I don’t know how to do something, but I’ll figure it out. I’ll learn. “I still have a tremendous amount to learn about chip making. I don't know how to make chips, to be clear. I have no idea how to make chips, but we'll figure it out. Got to start somewhere. I had no idea how to make cars or rockets as well.” —Elon Musk

Michael Jackson told Martin Bashir he was worth over $1B. In 2009, he died more than $500M in debt. Las Vegas, 2002. "I remember getting $200,000 checks in the mail when I was like 12, 13 years old." Bashir asks what he's worth now. "It's way up there." "Come on, Martin. I've done really well." Over $1B? He says yes. Then his favorite store in town. "See, this is the shop. I bought so much stuff here." 2 urns. $275,000 each. Bashir guesses the bill at a couple of million dollars. The manager won't say. Later, Bashir put the day at $6M. To Bashir, it looks like Louis XIV's palace. "It's my taste." In 2005, a forensic accountant testified. His finances at the time of the documentary: $415M owed, about $130M in assets. He was spending $20M to $30M a year more than he earned. In June 2009, he died owing more than $500M. One question came before the shopping. "Have you always been good with your money?" "With my money? Yes."

If you're a coach, read this now
Joe Mazzulla has been practicing what he preaches at the Boston Celtics… He’s been handing over coaching responsibilities. Giving his assistants opportunities to lead. Giving veteran guard Mike Conley responsibility for managing substitutions. Allowing people to experience decisions, uncertainty and responsibility from a different perspective. I love this. Because coaches often talk about wanting more leadership from their players. Ownership. Accountability. Independence. But here’s my question… What opportunities are you actually giving your players to develop these qualities? Leadership doesn’t magically appear because a coach demands it. Leadership needs to be developed. Through experiences. Through conversations. Through decision-making. Through responsibility. And, importantly, through mistakes. Think about it… When a coach makes every decision, provides every answer, and solves every problem, what are the players learning? Perhaps they’re learning to become dependent. Perhaps they’re learning to wait for instructions. Perhaps they’re learning that leadership belongs to somebody else. Now contrast that with a coach who deliberately creates opportunities for players to think, communicate, collaborate, and make decisions. A coach who asks questions rather than immediately providing answers. A coach who gives players responsibility and then helps them reflect. That’s a coach developing independent competitors. And independence matters enormously in sport. Because when the whistle blows, players must perceive, decide and act. They must respond to changing circumstances. They must communicate and coordinate. They must take control and take charge. So here’s a challenge for coaches… Don’t simply demand leadership. Design opportunities for leadership. Evrty day of every week, and in every training session. Because the best leaders don’t just lead…the best leaders create more leaders. *********************************** There’s a great source here on the work of Coach Mazzulla: buff.ly/Tt9oCJ7

One of the best basketball photos I ever seen taken, with it being after the last game of the ABA as a whole in 1976 One can only imagine how bittersweet it must’ve been for Dr. J winning a title but reflecting on the league coming to a close before the merger
