Funny that some people do not have any problem whatsoever with what Sharjeel Imam has said or believes in. But they have a huge problem on why the person writing about it is using a pseudonym.
If you are liberal enough, why don't you write yourself and denounce what Sharjeel Imam stands for? Else, for that matter, be brave enough to say openly that you agree and support whatever he has said in his interview.

Policy intent meets physical execution on Day 1. 🇮🇳🤝🇳🇿
As the India–New Zealand FTA enters into force, Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has flagged off the first export consignment under the pact: a ‘Made in India’ JCB-18Z mini-excavator from Pune, heading to New Zealand at zero duty.
A true global collaboration as UK origin JCBs are manufactured in India, being shipped to NZ and around the globe.
Why this matters:
• Heavy engineering leads the charge: high-value industrial equipment captures immediate zero-duty access across Oceania.
• 100% tariff elimination on Indian exports from day one (engineering, pharma, textiles, leather, electronics, gems & jewellery).
• Sovereign safeguards intact: dairy, sugar and sensitive agriculture fully protected.
• 5,000 professional mobility pathway + market access across 118 services sub-sectors.
• $20 billion investment commitment from New Zealand over 15 years, backed by 48-hour cargo clearances.
Negotiated with discipline. Secured with domestic red lines. Delivering containers on the day of implementation.

$1.2B trade today. Targeting double by 2030. 🇮🇳🤝🇳🇿
100% duty-free access for every Indian export. ✅️
$20 billion investment commitment over 15 years from New Zealand. 💰
Accelerated in just nine months under PM Narendra Modi and PM Christopher Luxon, the India–NZ FTA goes live as one of New Delhi’s fastest bilateral deals:
• Launched March 2025, concluded December 2025 in four rounds.
• Immediate zero-duty entry for Indian pharma, textiles, gems & jewellery, marine products, engineering goods, chemicals, leather and footwear.
• Preferential access on 70% of NZ tariff lines (covering 95% of their export value) while sensitive sectors stay protected.
• Dairy, bovine meat, sugar and artificial honey fully excluded; Manuka honey and milk albumin under strict TRQs.
Three takeaways:
1. India’s dairy cooperatives remained non-negotiable.
2. High-level political will delivers quality deals at speed without surrendering red lines.
3. India offers scale and capital certainty, but never at the cost of farmgate stability.
Reciprocal market access works best when domestic self-reliance is ring-fenced.

Rubio says India is a refining superpower, just a day before he goes to Jamnagar.
A deal to supply diesel to the US probably worked out.
But for the US SoS to come down for that.
Rubio coming to India, Mumbai and Jamnagar. To meet business leaders.
Mumbai understandable.
Jamnagar is very obvious. Perhaps diesel on mind.
But interesting, given the recent posts by Musk accusing Ambani for blocking Starlink.

Just wrapped up a 600 km weekend round trip on the expressway.
Hitting a straight 100–120 km/h strip makes you realize very quickly, it’s about predictability and self-sufficiency.
7 real-world rules every driver should follow to survive (and enjoy) long expressway runs:
1. Keep at Least 150 km of Fuel in Reserve
Don't assume fuel stations are every 10–20 km. On new expressways (like Delhi-Mumbai), pump gaps can stretch up to 70–80 km. If a pump is closed, out of stock, or facing a power cut, that reserve tank is your only insurance policy.
2. Never Pass an Operational Rest Stop Expecting a "Better One"
If you need a bathroom break, food, or stretch, take the next available rest area. Expressways are access-controlled deserts; skipping a designated food Plaza hoping for a cleaner eatery in 15 km can turn into a 100 km stretch of nothingness.
3. Treat the Shoulder as a Danger Zone. Not a Parking Bay
Never stop on the emergency shoulder. Heavy commercial vehicles and distracted drivers at 120 km/h often drift into shoulders. If you must stop, pull off completely into a designated wayside bay or exit ramp.
4. Wipe down Headlights and Windshields at Every Pitstop
Dead insects form a film on your windshield that creates blinding glare against oncoming headlights at night. Clean the glass and light lenses every time you stop for fuel.
5. Stop Camping in the Right Lane
The rightmost lane is strictly for overtaking. Sitting at 85 km/h in the fast lane forces faster traffic to pass from the left, creating blind-spot chaos. Cruise in the middle lane; use right lane only to overtake.
6. The Cold-Tire Pressure Trap
At sustained high speeds, continuous friction spikes tire temperature and internal pressure. Set your cold tire pressures accurately before starting. Under-inflated tires on hot tarmac generate excessive flex and heat; could lead to tyre burst.
7. Indicate 3 Seconds BEFORE You Turn the Wheel
Give traffic behind you time to see your signal, check your mirrors twice (especially the blind spot), and execute a smooth, linear lane change.
Expressways make distance easy, but high-speed momentum leaves zero margin for error.

India can extend significant leeways to different strands of exceptionlisms - regional, ideological (left wing) and even religious. Islamism is where the big bold redline is - we cant risk even a shadow of daylight on this matter. Those who dont get it are wilfully blind..

If Durga Puja was merely a "Bengali cultural celebration", we would have seen huge pandals that celebrate Maa Durga in every street of Bangladesh.
Secularists are worse than communalists, atleast communalists are loyal to their one book.
Just to set the records straight…
For all non-Bengalis who confuse Durga Puja (of Bengal) with Navaratri (outside Bengal), there's a simple big difference in the way it's celebrated. While Navaratri could be religious (as people claim it to be), Durga Puja is a cultural festival. There's a remarkable difference between religion and culture.
Why is Durga Puja not religious, but cultural? Here's a Bongs take!
1. For most Bengalis, they have nothing to do with devotion, and everything to do with celebration. Religion (as it has become) is an organized way to deal with devotees, and the Bengalis are far far away from any sort of blind beliefs.
2. God/Goddess is an image that's alienated from family of our own lives and seen as an authority. To Bengalis, Durga is just a part of our family. She could be termed as the Goddess, but never seen with a God-like image. There's way more love than devotion. It's a very human connection. She's the daughter of the house who's come for Autumn break to her parents house with kids and friends
3. While people outside Bengal may fast as much as they like, Bengalis will continue to feast on Mutton Biriyanis and all sorts of delicious non-veg food (even at Puja premises where organizers often arrange for meals). Had there been any religious angle, things might not have been so simple.
4. Durga Puja as a festival is deeply connected to arts, crafts, music, theater, films ... everything! It's an all-round celebration. Only a very tiny percentage of people would bother to offer prayers. For the rest of us, Durga and the spirit of Durga puja is all in our heart. Even if we offer 'Anjali' (a prayer), our eyeballs hover all over the surrounding beauties in laal-paar-sada-sarees (a beautiful dress that ladies prefer to wear).
5. Durga puja is all-inclusive. Many Muslims in Bengal celebrate it too. Even there are religious Muslims who are the Presidents and Secretaries of Puja committees. No 'religious' festival could ever break these barriers!
6. There are hundreds of government and private awards given for 'Best Puja'. Not a single parameter in judgement relates to the devotion aspect of it. The Best Puja judgement takes into consideration the artistic finesse of the idol-making, the decorations around it, the lights, the sound, the safety measures, the theme, the concept, the social relevance of the theme, etc. It never considers how devotedly people offer prayers. So, devotion doesn't even come in our way of celebrating Durga Puja.
For those who have never witnessed Durga puja in Kolkata but have a lot to comment on it, please do make a visit. Your idea of a festival will change. Our country had no religion, but we thrived on our culture. It's time we pack religions into the sacks and throw them back to the western world (from where it has come) and fall back on our all-inclusive cultural ways of celebrating life once again.

This lady whose Nobel Peace Prize you want to celebrate not only never condemned Pak sponsored terrorism against India but also could not bring herself to decry Pak role in the Mumbai terror mayhem in 2008.
Worse, she said this -absolving Pak of any role in this attack and suggesting it was local. Shameful:
"Whenever there is an act of terrorism, one points fingers at neighbouring countries, thereby absolving oneself of all responsibility... Terrorists need not be from outside; they can be home grown. When you accuse others, you fail to take steps to correct the problem at home."
Very useful 101 for those tracking the #NobelPeacePrize Justice Navi Pillay issue...Thanks Editor Varadarajan @svaradarajan

Sharjeel Imam wanted to cut off North East India by blocking the Chicken's Neck. And somehow, this guy still had "a lot of sympathy" for him.
It's only after reading Sharjeel's interview on the Quint that he realises that Rightwing has always been right about him.
A lot of liberals form their opinion just by taking the opposite of what the average Hindutva opinion is. They don't even bother to check the facts.
I used to have a lot of sympathy for Sharjeel Imam. Still do, he has been treated unfairly by the state. But, after reading this interview, I think he's a very dangerous person. It's strange that he radicalized so much despite going to a prestigious IIT.

The worst part? This moron, who doesn’t even deserve to be taken seriously, sits in Parliament.
Hope this turns out to be his last term, and he goes back to doing what he does best — cleaning up after Thackeray!
