Wow. Seven Seas Entertainment's box set of danmei (Chinese boys' love) novel series "The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System" has sold more than 20,000 units since release in February through September, parent company Media Do said in its mid-year earnings presentation last week.
A presentation slide from the fiscal year 2026 mid-year financial results briefing of Japanese e-book distributor Media Do Co., Ltd. describes sales at U.S. manga and light novel publishing subsidiary Seven Seas Entertainment. A deluxe hardcover box set of danmei (Chinese boys' love) series "The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System" launched on February 17, 2026 and priced at US$139.99 was a major hit, selling 20,681 copies as of September 30 of the same year. At retail prices, the cumulative total sales would be approximately US$2.9 million, equivalent to about JP¥460 million. Box sets of popular titles are also planned for the next fiscal year. Media Do believes Seven Seas's track record enables successful box-set sales.
