After travelling extensively across Gadchiroli, the only good school for Tribal children I came across was the one started by Dr. Prakash Amte.
It has a science lab, art studio, digital lab, library, and serves some of the healthiest meals I have ever seen being provided to students. This year 8 tribal students from this school cracked NEET and will become doctors.
After visiting the school, I was left with one question: if Dr. Amte can build and run a school like this, why can’t the govt do the same despite having lakhs of crores at its disposal?
Lastly, it was truly an honour to meet the Amte couple, who have dedicated nearly 50 years of their lives to serving Tribal communities and their children. Their work and commitment are truly inspiring.

Whatever happened yesterday was disgusting.
This evening at Kartavya Path, where a lamp-lighting ceremony was being held to celebrate PM Modi’s birthday, led by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, I spotted several schoolchildren in uniform.
I spoke to some of them. They told me their schools had directed them to attend the event, even though their exams are currently going on.
I also asked their teachers about it. I was told that the NDMC had directed the schools to send students to the ceremony.
So, apparently, when exams are underway, lighting lamps and celebrating the Prime Minister’s birthday takes priority.
What a reflection of the education system we have built.

Are you aware that Neerja Modi is the same school where a 9-year old Amaira committed suicide after its teachers continuously ignored her complaints?
Are you aware that the first thing which school did after the incident was to wipe off the floor?
Are you aware that the school’s affiliation from Class 9-12 was cancelled by the CBSE for gross safety violations?
If yes and you still decided to award the school, you are also a perpetrator of injustice like so many others.
