Putin has just floated the possibility of ending Russian gas supplies to the European Union immediately, rather than waiting until 2027 when Brussels plans to fully phase out Russian gas: PUTIN (my translation): "As for gas, the surge in prices on the European market isn’t even directly connected to any restrictions on supplies right now. The main suppliers haven’t reduced their volumes. Who are the main suppliers today? Algeria, the United States, Norway and Russia to some extent. None of them has cut deliveries to the EU. "But prices have already jumped to around $700. Why? Because of the overall situation on global markets, including oil markets, and in this case the gas market as well. It’s the general global situation. There are now buyers willing to pay more for natural gas, particularly because of what’s happening in the Middle East, disruptions to shipping routes, and so on. "When premium buyers appear who are ready to pay higher prices, then some traditional suppliers to the EU market, I’m sure of it, including American companies, will naturally go where they can earn more. That’s completely normal. There’s nothing political about it. It’s just business. So, once again, this is the result of mistakes made by the EU authorities over many years. "That brings me to something I’ve been thinking about. As was mentioned earlier, they’re [the EU] planning to introduce new restrictions on Russian gas supplies in about a month. The deadline is the 24th, and from the 25th new limits will come into force. And then in 2027 they plan even further restrictions, up to a complete ban. At the same time, other markets are opening up. So maybe it would make more sense for us to stop supplying gas to the EU ourselves and move to those new markets, and establish ourselves there. "Again, I want to stress: there’s no political motive here. But if they’re going to close the market to us in a month or two anyway, maybe it’s better to leave now and focus on countries that are reliable partners. That said, this isn’t a decision. I’m just thinking out loud. I’ll ask the government to look into it together with our companies."

🇸🇦🇮🇶 OIL GIANTS TURN THE TAPS BACK ON OPEC Plus (the squad of major oil countries like Saudi Arabia and Russia) just said they’ll pump more oil starting in October, even though people are already worried there’s too much. They’re adding 137,000 barrels a day, which starts to undo the big cuts they made last year to keep prices from crashing. The problem? Oil prices are already low, and most OPEC Plus countries can’t actually produce much more right now. Basically, only Saudi Arabia and the UAE can really deliver, but the whole group is acting like they’re all ready to flood the market. They’ll meet again in October to figure out if they want to keep increasing, stop, or change the plan based on how things go. Source: Reuters

OIL PRICE UP! BARCLAYS SAYS BRENT TO HIT $72 IN 2025 Barclays just raised its 2025 oil forecast by $6 as global demand beats the hype. Even with OPEC+ pumping more, oil stockpiles are shrinking fast. Why? Because the world’s using more fuel than expected, especially in the U.S. and other rich countries. Guess we’re not ditching gas anytime soon. Barclays says output hikes might still lag as some producers scramble to stay within quota. Source: Reuters

🚨🇮🇷 LIVE NOW: IRAN MOVES TO CLOSE STRAIT OF HORMUZ Iran’s parliament has approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz. The plan now heads to Iran’s top security body for final approval. Why it matters? This 21-mile-wide waterway moves 1 in 5 barrels of global oil. It's a vital artery for crude, LNG, and global cargo. Closing it chokes the world’s energy supply and Tehran knows it. Join us as we break down what's happenin

Ukraine stops Russian gas supplies to Europe: Russia will lose billions of euros Russian gas is no longer flowing to EU countries via Ukraine: on New Year's Eve, the five-year agreement between Gazprom and Ukraine for gas transit expired. This energy route had been in place since the collapse of the USSR in 1991. Gas can still flow from Russia to Europe through the "Turkish Stream" pipeline, but not through Ukraine, which will reduce gas imports to the EU by approximately 14 billion cubic meters. "We have halted the transit of Russian gas, this is a historic event. Russia is losing markets and will suffer financial losses," said Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, adding that Ukraine has helped Europe get closer to its goal of fully abandoning Russian gas by 2027. According to the latest estimates, Russia will lose about 5.2 billion euros annually from the gas previously transported to Europe via Ukraine. By the end of 2024, the volume of Russian gas exported to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines will have already decreased by 78% since the contract began in 2020. In 2023, Gazprom reported a net loss of 629 billion rubles, its first loss since 2001, following a sharp decline in gas sales. Prior to this, the gas giant had earned billions annually, even during the first year of the war.

🇺🇦ZELENSKY APPROVED PLAN TO BLOW UP NORD STREAM PIPELINES Despite the mainstream media saying for months that Russia blew up the pipelines, the Wall Street Journal has now revealed it was planned and executed by Ukraine at a cost of $300,000. When the CIA learned of the plan they told Zelesnky to abort it, however it still went ahead. According to senior Ukrainian defense and security officials, the pipelines were a legitimate target. They are jointly owned by Russian, German, French, and Dutch companies, and the explosion caused 800 million cubic meters of gas, equivalent to about 3 months of Danish gas supplies, to escape. It's a problem for Germany, as a senior official said: “An attack of this scale is a sufficient reason to trigger the collective defense clause of NATO, but our critical infrastructure was blown up by a country that we support with massive weapons shipments and billions in cash.” Ukraine still officially denies involvement in the attack.
