🔴🗣️ Harry Maguire to @SkySportsPL:
“I think the formation is an easy one to go at, because we’re playing something a little bit different to everybody else. For me, it just became an easy one to go at when the results don’t work.
The formation has been fine. Like I said, box to box we been pretty comfortable in every game. Tactically we’ve been comfortable in every game, it’s gotta be down to the players. The players got to take their moments, they got to make the difference in those moments.
I think this season, the first 4 games we just haven’t done them “moments” well enough. And like I said, we haven’t defended in our box well enough in the big moments. Every time the opposing team comes near the box, it ends up in the back of the net. Which is something we need to work on.
But I think the formation is just an easy one to dig out because we’ve not been winning football matches. The formation is NOT a set formation, everyone says “3” or “5” but in a lot of phases of the game, we play a back 4.
We’ve been happy since the manager come in. It’s an easy one to dig out, but it’s down to the players to execute. And if you’re a good player, you can play in ANY formation.”

No trim. Leaned back. Hands in pocket. On the spectrum. This man couldn’t even define fear, we might have an all timer…

Surely the answer is Martinez out of the 2? PL experience. He’s a cunt but he’d be our cunt.

Points after GW 3 in the premier league:
Ruben Amorim: 4
Pep Guardiola: 3
Eddie Howe: 2
Marco Silva: 2
Unai Emery: 1
Guess which manager has been under significant pressure with his future at the club constantly questioned.

Maybe I'm wrong for backing Amorim but I just don't think he's had a chance yet at all.
Came in, in November, with a United squad we can all agree was poor. Got a left back, in January, and had to deal with some crippling injuries (Licha, Amad, Mainoo, Zirkzee etc), had to try and install his system with little time between games, so I absolutely am not judging him for last season, at all.
We honestly looked decent in pre season, and I've seen a lot of positives so far in the first two games too. I am not using that Arsenal game as a badge of honour, but everyone I've spoken to agrees we deserved at least a point in that game, which, 15th last season vs 2nd, that's positive.
Against Fulham, we hit the post, missed a penalty, and had 2 or 3 very scoreable chances early on, they couldn't get out for the first 30 mins and I think if we put one or two away early we comfortably win that game. Bruno lost his head, and we lost the midfield because of it.
I think you can critique Amorim, sure, Mainoo should've come on in both games imo, the subs have been questionable. But he's also been crying out for a midfielder according to journalists. We all agree Baleba would be an unreal signing, right? Tier 1 journos are reporting that's his #1 priority. Clearly he sees the weaknesses too..
Lastly, on his system. He's not using Man United as some experiment of a 3,4,3.. He has a system that is his. He played it at Sporting, dominated the league and went unbeaten in the UCL before we got him in. We got him in to play his system, why are we so desperate to see him abandon that completely 2 games into the season? This idea that "his system doesn't work" is total BS. We've literally gotten results against the top 4 with it last season, it got us to a European final, it SHOULD have picked up 4 points at least so far this season. Yes, things went poorly in the second half on Sunday, that was happening in ETH's 4 back system too??? Why is it always the systems fault? We would get overran in midfield for the last few years playing a 4 back ffs.. I think the issue is we NEED a midfielder, like Baleba, and we haven't got one.
Sacking Amorim now just makes no sense to me, at all. Who will we bring in? And how long will they get before a bad run of results?
We can't keep going through managers ffs, Amorim said it last year, it will hurt. We will go through bad times, we will suffer. But good times are coming. Wish this fan base would stop being so toxic, and give the guy some patience. We need to rebuild, and a rebuild consists of pain.
The rebuild didn't start in November, it started this summer. It started by identifying issues (lack of goals, poor midfield, poor GK) and fixing them. The first issue and the biggest one, has hopefully been fixed with a new frontline. Hopefully we turn our attention to the midfield and GK next, whether that be getting one or two in this summer then more next summer (because we can't fix every issue in one summer), then so be it.
Remember Arteta came 8th two seasons in a row, before Arsenal started challenging. It will take time. It will hurt. But you need to put your faith in it working out.
Otherwise, we'll be in this same position in 6 months, 12 months, 18 months whenever the fan base decide they have had enough because we don't win every game.

You all fucking mocked Ten Hag when he said he can’t play the same way he did at Ajax cause he didn’t have the player profiles suited to the system
And now we have a manager trying to play his system and persisting with it and you want him to change it

This used to be a normal thing. It is still a normal thing. The "wonderkid" era ruined everyone's perception.

Please keep Mainoo closer to goal Amorim. This is where he can flourish, not with covering runs or marshalling the middle.

They put Garna on an almighty pedestal (viva Garnacho, teenage Ronaldo comparisons), instead of just letting him develop properly; fans really bought into the delusion- he started to believe in his own hype & continuously searched his name on socials and let his brother embarrass himself.
He inevitably was unable to deliver the performances expected of him as the buzz was better than the product; the club noticed & decided to cash in whilst his valuation is at an all time high. Yet, despite all of this; fans instead of spotting the pattern & changing their idiotic ways, have already drafted revisionist tweets in case he becomes competent elsewhere. It’s a fucking cesspit.
