Pardon our progress! UTA Libraries is preparing for HVAC upgrades from the Basement through the 6th floor. You may notice reduced heating or AC on a floor during installation. Thanks for your patience as we improve our spaces for the Maverick community!
The Next Big Thing!
UTA aerospace engineering student Orion Horstman designed and built his own electric guitar in the UTA Libraries' FabLab Shop Room. Seriously.
With time, hard work, and help from our staff, he turned padauk and sapele wood into a one-of-a-kind Telecaster-inspired guitar. (And on the other side of the first floor you can plug it in and rock in The Studios!)
Got a project in mind? Come talk to us. We’ll help you figure out the tools, the processes, and the next steps.
The resources are here, so, what will you create?

Why do books get banned?
What themes make them a target?
Orwell’s novel, 1984, has been challenged and banned in multiple countries for exploring exactly the kind of control it warns about.
Some of the most famous and influential books in history have faced the same treatment for language, ideas, or simply making certain groups uncomfortable.
UTA Libraries' Banned Books Week Exhibit is up now on the 2nd floor of Central Library if you want a fuller picture.
Mavs, midterms can be a lot. Remember, UTA Libraries is here to help you find research, resources and support for your studies. And when you need a break, take one! Rest is part of the process. Keep going, take it one step at a time and know we’re rooting for you!

AI is going to be part of the future of healthcare. But knowing how to use it is only part of the conversation.
At UTA, future healthcare professionals are also asking: Can we trust it? What happens when it’s wrong? And how do we use it responsibly?
See how UTA Libraries is helping bring those conversations into the classroom:

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the Virginia Garrett Lectures: Exploring 500 Years of Antarctic Mapping!
We’re grateful to our presenters for sharing their time and expertise, and to the UTA Libraries staff whose hard work behind the scenes helped make the program a success.
Thank you for being part of it!
Need a break from the semester? Doggy Days is back Oct. 28.
Come visit with therapy dogs, take a breather and learn how these amazing dogs help people. Your to-do list can wait a few minutes.
Your library access starts with your Mav ID.
The keypads have been removed, so getting into the Libraries is now as simple as tapping your Mav ID at the access point, much like tapping your card at a store.
Faster. Easier. And in line with access at other UTA facilities.
Mav Express is at Central Library today from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. for Mav ID replacements.

A student job can become so much more than a job.
For Gilberto Cortez, UTA Libraries became a place to build community, create tabletop adventures, work on creative projects and grow skills that will follow him into his next chapter.

A student job can become so much more.
Bianca Gonzalez came to the Basement looking for a place to connect. Nearly three years later, she’s taking new skills, friendships and confidence into her next chapter with UTA Facilities and Maintenance.

No maps, no GPS, no way out but through.
Can you imagine what it was like for the first Antarctic explorers?
This is a LEGO model of Shackleton’s Endurance, the vessel crushed in Antarctic ice during one of the most famous expeditions ever attempted.
On Oct. 1–2, UTA Libraries is holding the 15th biennial Virginia Garrett Lecture Series, this year titled: Frozen Frontier.
We are giving these sets away to attendees. But that's only one small reason to come.
Explore 500 years of maps with guest speakers and panels discussing how Antarctica went from a myth to a continent.
Who this is for, if you’re not already a map person:
students who want a campus event that doesn’t feel like extra credit
parents and alumni who like a good expedition story anyone into climate, exploration, design, history, or how nations decided not to militarize a whole continent
if the above LEGO video left you wondering about what happened to the real ship and the real crew
