First Lady Melania Trump is claiming credit for a ceasefire in Russian-occupied Oleshky, southern Ukraine.
But the Vatican says it was Pope Leo XIV who phoned Putin on Oct. 16, while still in hospital after lung cancer surgery, and asked for a truce to get food and aid in. The Kremlin confirmed the call. Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin says the initiative was the pope's.
As @thedailybeast notes, it's reminiscent of 2016, when Melania said she wrote her RNC speech "with as little help as possible," only for whole passages to turn out to mirror Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech.

Five cannibals get hired as engineers at a defense company.
During the welcoming ceremony, the boss says, “You’re all part of our team now. You can earn good money here, and you can go to the cafeteria for something to eat. So please don’t bother any of the other employees.”
The cannibals promise to behave.
Four weeks later, the boss returns and says, “You’re all working very hard, and I’m very satisfied with everyone. However, one of our janitors has disappeared. Do any of you know what happened to him?”
The cannibals all shake their heads.
After the boss leaves, the leader of the cannibals turns to the others and asks, “Which one of you idiots ate the janitor?”
One cannibal hesitantly raises his hand.
The leader shakes his head and says, “You fool! For four weeks, we’ve been eating team leaders, supervisors, and project managers, and nobody noticed a thing. Then you go and eat the janitor!”

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Utah County Sheriff's Office said they have not received any reports of injuries.

The speed limits on Starlink and Starshield are still there. The speed has not been restored. And the delivery of interceptors to protect us against Russian ballistic missiles is still delayed. We’re waiting for interceptors that were already agreed on. But they are still not coming. This is a real problem, because the Russians attack us almost every single day.
All of this is happening while we continue our quite successful operations on the front. We keep defending positions. Things have become harder – partly because of the Starlink and Starshield policies and speed limits. But our frontline is still holding and I am proud of how strong our people are.
