Thoughts? I’ll clarify: I value humbling experiences, which I think is the most gainful trait of foreign travel. The rest is just ego feeding, bragging rights, and novelties. Don’t buy souvenirs, don’t take pictures of every painting at the museum, eh eh eh.
Get an idea of the lifestyle. Enjoy the unique aspects of your destination. You may find such a place suits you. If you’re not taking time to understand why you’re doing it, then don’t waste your money. A diamond necklace bought in Paris is the same as one from the local mall.
It’s no surprise that people relate to this. Society has advanced enough to render most ordinary people more or less obsolete in the grand scheme. This has always been true but we didn’t occupy our minds with this concept for most of history.
