A serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright, in Alberta. Our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected.   We are working closely with the Government of Alberta and local authorities. Premier Smith and I are in close contact as are our relevant ministers and officials.

U.S. citizens abroad should vote and send back their ballot as soon as they receive it. There are a number of options for returning completed ballots: oVia the U.S. Embassy– You or another person can drop off your ballot request / Form SF-76 Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request (FPCA) or completed ballot at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate for return to the United States. It must be addressed to your local election officials and have sufficient U.S. postage or be in a postage-paid envelope. A ballot transmission envelope is available at: fvap.gov/eo/overview/sending…. oVia Fax, Email, or Internet – Some states permit electronic transmission of completed ballots. Consult the FVAP website for options in your state: fvap.gov. oVia Local mail – If you have a reliable mail service to the United States, put your ballot in the mail with appropriate international postage. oVia Express Courier Service – If time is short or local mail is unreliable, you can use commercial carrier services such as FedEx, DHL, or UPS at your own expense. This morning I joined our @CBP team at Toronto Pearson to honor Officer Blake Simpson. We remembered his dedicated service to our country and stood with his family as his colleagues gave his final call:   "November Yankee India 1111, this is Toronto Pearson… November Yankee India 1111, this is Toronto Pearson… No response from November Yankee India 1111. Blake Simpson is now 10-42. End of Watch: October 2, 2026." May he rest in peace.

Three years ago today, Hamas carried out the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Among the more than 1200 innocent lives taken and the 250 hostages seized that day were dozens of Americans and seven Canadians, and others with close ties to both our countries. The United States stands strongly with Israel and the Jewish people. We pray for the victims, their families, and the survivors.

My thoughts and those of the American people are with the Jewish Community in Belleville following the attack on the Sons of Jacob Synagogue as they commemorated Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.  All Canadians should be able to worship without worrying for their safety.  The United States has offered assistance to support Canadian law enforcement and the Jewish community.
