EASTER MIRACLE: FAMILY MISSING AT SEA FOR OVER A WEEK RESCUED BY @USCG.
On Easter Sunday, the Federated States of Micronesia and the U.S. Embassy received a report that a vessel carrying a family was overdue and lost at sea. The family departed Fananu Island on March 30 for the short passage to Murillo Island but never arrived.
Within one day, the Legend-class cutter USCGC Midgett located the missing family—unharmed and uninjured—after searching an area covering more than 14,000 square nautical miles.
A family in FSM was missing for a week. Our Joint Rescue Sub-Center Guam team was notified and coordinated the search. USCGC Midgett, already on patrol for our U.S. Navy partners, diverted and found them in 10-foot seas after midnight on Monday.
All three are home safe. That's the mission. That's presence and partnerships in action!
