Patience is the first ingredient in every apple. Trees take years to bear fruit, and orchards are planted with decades in mind. Growers invest years of care, resources, and unwavering commitment long before seeing a return on that investment.
That future is worth protecting. Strong farm policy, including the passage of a five-year Farm Bill, is critical to providing the stability and certainty growers need to ensure that their patience and hard work pay off for generations to come. 🌳🍎

According to @USDA trade data, fresh apple exports totaled nearly 45 million bushels in 2025/26 (July to June). This is around 800,000 bushels more than 2024/25 export levels – a 2% increase.
During the same period, fresh apple imports declined by 550,000 bushels, or 12%.
More exports + fewer imports = a trade balance of nearly 41 million bushels!

Nearly 250 years ago, John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, was born in Massachusetts. Beginning in the early 1800s, he traveled across the American frontier, planting apple nurseries and trees that helped provide settlers with orchards across the Midwest.
His legacy lives on in American apple-growing history and in the enduring legend of the man who planted trees wherever he went. 🍏

Meet Nettie Hurry, Sales & Product Development at Adams County Nursery in Aspers, PA. 🌎🍎
Nettie takes us to Delaware, where the nursery grows its apple trees. The sandy loam soil there makes for stronger fruit structure and better vegetative growth. All August long, teams of budders work in pairs, placing individual buds into rootstock that will eventually grow into trees headed to orchards across the country.
