Great podcast episode to drop on #nationalprivacyday!

Big Brother doesn’t have to mean the government. Freedom is lost in a #surveillance society regardless of public or private sectors doing the watching. The KIDS Act (IL SB 1719), something we’re supporting, is also mentioned here. patriotpost.us/articles/6296… #privacy #twill

Since apparently the phone makers are running out of ideas about what to do with #smartphones, here’s one: dumb down a little, add physical button for turning on/off microphone and a physical shutter/cover for the camera. #Privacy

A study finds that people will alter their behavior when they think they don't have privacy. Maybe that's why Big Data and ISPs don't want regulation protecting your #privacy rights online? eurekalert.org/pub_releases/…
Why are we fighting to support passage of the KIDS Act (SB 1719)? Back in 2017, the FBI published a report warning Americans of the dangers from Internet-connected toys. You should know when Big Data is listening. slate.com/technology/2017/07… #twill #privacy

Everything Jules said. This is phenomenal and what we want to see in the world.
Some apps are starting to ask permission before sharing/selling location data. See this DC Metro app. Major quibble with calling precise location data anonymous, but appreciate being asked, with option to decide without consequence.

"Google set to launch tools to ensure data monopoly" should be the headline instead. It's not groups like us that are going to make it impossible for your business to advertise online. It's companies like Google running roughshod over your rights.
This is what happens when the largest data broker on the planet controls the dominant browser on the web. Everyone loses. tomsguide.com/us/google-chro…
More news about SB1719, the Keep Internet Devices Safe (KIDS) Act. The article is right that there's certainly been compromise with Big Tech to avoid them completely killing the bill, but it still moves the needle on necessary #privacy protection. scmagazine.com/home/security… #twill
