The scariest part of the Vals refund study isn't the agent that sent 187 messages. It's the one that shared the user's mom's illness with five organisations to argue for a refund it was never going to get. vals.ai/blogs/impossible-ref…

Finding the right stack for agentic commerce is insanely hard now, because the market fills up with new startups every week. I'm keeping a list of the ones with great product taste. Add yours here: cosign.co/questions/startups…

Every store is racing to sell more to AI agents. Almost none are asking what the agent needs to serve its human better. Checkout is commoditized; experience is the moat. Agentic commerce rewards the servant, not the seller!!

Working at an incumbent, I can say distribution is overrated in AI. Anyone can ship a button in front of a billion users. Getting one of them to use it a second time is the hard part.
Whenever I hear an incumbent say they have a right to win in consumer AI, I get nervous for them and excited for startups No one has a right to win anything anymore. You have to fight for it every day It may take a few years, but if you don't disrupt yourself, you're dead

Good piece on wallet wars. 'An agent needs a policy, not just a credential' is the right frame. But the open standards ending is hand-wavy: a scoped token only helps if merchants accept it, which is the same adoption problem as the walled gardens.
Wallet Wars: Agents need payment credentials as they become the new UX for $7T in ecommerce. Enter the Wallet Wars and why the AOL-era of agentic commerce will give way to open standards.

Cheap sandboxes are table stakes. The Agent37 HN thread nailed the harder layer: limits on where the agent can connect, credentials that never enter the sandbox, budgets per action. A great agent in a leaky sandbox can still max out the card news.ycombinator.com/item?id…

I think Zuck's line is the one that sticks: agentic commerce isn't a conversion bump. It creates shoppers who never would've opened the app. That's a different problem than optimizing the funnel. You're inventing demand, then you still have to settle it safely

Same goes for all major social medias. A social media with MCP is much better than a closed one.
Amazon banning agents is the first opportunity I've seen since Amazon was founded for a startup to create an Amazon competitor. People will want agents to buy stuff for them. It will be one of the main use cases. And they won't want to use some Amazon-supplied agent to do it.

It was a little surprising to witness the launch of the personal agent protocol and get my hands on it to test and learn firsthand on day one. It has to go beyond just the transaction and build a better contextual understanding of the user for every business.

Actively tracking and talking about PR counts and LOC is a sign a company now has too many engineering managers

Who has really cracked the agent identity play in the market? There’s a lot of gas - but I'm looking for a handful of reliable players who have enabled identity + analytics at scale beyond demos.

In the AI rush, enterprises are uncovering data problems at their core that were potentially “ignored” because of cost functions. Just to figure out: gotta fix data foundations at scale to make AI useful beyond coding with Claude. So early for enterprise AI as well
