I do not think anyone should love the physical exam any more than we love any other diagnostic test. We need to stop teaching this to medical students and residents.

I don't think this is the right way to frame the utility of the exam. The exam is a diagnostic test. The fact that a test is normal in many conditions means nothing (like, we don't care that a patient with pneumonia may have normal LFTs, right?)
