Quantum computers just cleared a major hurdle.
Japan's RIKEN lab ran 5 silicon qubits simultaneously, and kept fidelity above 99.9%.
For context: fault-tolerant quantum computing requires ~99.9% fidelity per operation to correct its own errors. Below that threshold, errors accumulate faster than they can be fixed.
The problem: running multiple qubits through a shared microwave line causes phase errors called AC Stark shifts.
RIKEN's fix: a calibration protocol using qubit pairs to cancel the shifts, no individual calibration needed for every combination.
Single-qubit gates hit 99.999%. Five qubits at once: 99.9%.
The key advantage: silicon qubits can be made with existing semiconductor chip factories.
No exotic materials. No new fabs.

Terafab is fucking huge.
I put the planned layout over the October 17 satellite image, and look at the scale. That’s 7.7 km from end to end.
They’ve been moving crazy fast since July 4, but it looks like most of what’s being built is still supporting infrastructure. They’ve barely touched the area where the fab itself will go.
Terafab from space, Oct. 7 vs. Oct. 17.
They’re already digging foundations on the south side, and the site keeps growing south, with a big stretch of land now cleared.
On the north side, the foundations are already poured. As I mentioned before, this area is for support facilities, most likely water treatment.

The new @Tesla Roadster with the Thrust Augment puts out more thrust than an F-16 fighter jet at military thrust.
• Roadster: >80 kN (~18,000 lbf)
• F-16 military thrust: ~79 kN (17,800 lbf)
(Military thrust is the maximum thrust a jet engine produces without using the afterburner)

Honestly crazy the game quality you can get in just a few prompts in the browser:
- Made with Opus 5.5
- @threejs and Rapier for physics
- Multiplayer with @Cloudflare
Modes:
- Stunt park
- Time attack
- Rocket league clone
- Car showroom

The fact that Tesla was able to keep the development of the Roadster a secret for so long is pretty impressive.

Here is the @Tesla Roadster’s battery and drive unit, which is one-third more powerful than the Model S Plaid’s, with half the mass.
Tesla: “The new high-voltage battery and drive unit technology used to drive Roadster enables our most powerful and compact rear-wheel drive unit yet. Together, they deliver 1 MW of pure power-that's one third more power than Model S Plaid-with half the mass. The result is paradigm-shifting acceleration with amazing cornering and precise stopping power.”
