At 3 a.m. on July 23, 2026, US forces conducted missile strikes on Salamcha, the border crossing between Iraq and Iran. The strikes hit an area where pilgrims were walking for the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain, resulting in at least 2 deaths and 11 injuries, according to local authorities and Iranian officials.
The Arbaeen is the 40th day commemoration of the Day of Ashura that marks the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet’s grandson Imam Hussain, his family and companions ki-lled in Karbala. Millions of pilgrims, mostly Shia Muslims, from all over the world flock to the city to pay their respects.

Earlier this week, the US government released a 100 page document titled “Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism” claiming decades worth of covert influence in American left-wing political spaces. The report alleges that anti-imperialist, anti-racist, and anti-capitalist movements within the US were propagated by Cuban espionage campaigns.
Following the release of the report, the Pentagon reportedly began drawing up a range of detailed plans for a potential military assault on Cuba.

We're on the cusp of major changes in the Left. The ultraleft will learn ideas are more impactful than broken glass. Soc dems will learn the safe harbor for bland dissent is gone. Sincere supporters of resistance will learn that they need to cut the cord to move fwd.
The soc dem Left has compromised its activists, completely exposed its networks. For examp, DSA and PSL use google and other cloud svcs to hold their mbshp rolls. ICE and the FBI are using this kind of data to create targeting lists, while Miller & Rubio promise cattle cars. 7/9
This is part of the predicament we're in at the early stages of developing a resistance mvt in the imperial core. People who advocate for real resistance still mistakenly believe in Free Speech protections that simply do not exist. And so they expose their network. 3/9
Then there are those on the Left using speech to opportunistically mimic resistance. They've relied on an understandng that speech that is only aesthetically resistant is allowed, as a safety valve for social discontent. This usually is protected by 1st Amd. But not anymore. 5/9
But Free Speech never exists for speech that can organize ppl to sacrifice themselves to fight the powerful. The ruling class isn't stupid. They understand the relationship between ideas worth fighting & dying for, and the actual fighting motivated by them. 4/9
That is what the underground has always been primarily used for: to organize using political speech made illegal because it seeks to overthrow the ruling order. Those newspapers of old were contraband. Resisters were imprisoned and executed for circulating them. 2/9

I have been briefed on today’s horrifying stabbings on the Upper West Side, where an Asian man and a Jewish man were attacked. According to witness and victim statements, the perpetrator yelled “Allahu Akbar” during both attacks. I am relieved that both victims are in stable condition.
The NYPD responded immediately and arrested Raul Morales in connection with both assaults—and I am grateful to the officers for their swift response.
The NYPD’s initial investigation suggests that mental health may have been a factor. They are also evaluating these stabbings as potential hate crimes.
These hateful and despicable attacks have no place in our city.

Exactly 20 years ago today, on July 14, 2006, a single broadcast changed the course of the July War and sent waves of celebration through the streets of Lebanon.
During a live telephone address, martyred Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah directed the public's attention to the Mediterranean, just as an anti-ship missile struck the Israeli Navy's flagship: "The surprises that I promised you will start now. Now, in the middle of the sea, facing Beirut, the Israeli military warship that attacked our infrastructure... look at it burn."
The successful strike on the state-of-the-art Sa'ar 5-class corvette (the INS Hanit) left Israeli military command utterly stunned, as they repeatedly underestimated Hezbollah's capabilities and continue to do so.
