I'd heard some unsavory things about Schrödinger but only today did I learn that he was a pedophile and a rapist.

If there's anything I wished this tweet to achieve, it is to contribute to the realisation that "to follow the science" is not about blindly accepting facts or factoids, nor letting our preconceptions override our views, but about revising our standpoint as new evidence emerges.

Based on a large body of data, I lobbied the CDC this week to count confirmed prior Covid as equivalent to 1-dose of vaccine, which would reduce waste, unnecessary side-effects, and provide the same access to activities as 2-doses, no Covid.

Protein structure "solved", and @MoAlQuraishi would know! This feels like Go all over again...
CASP14 #s just came out and they’re astounding—DeepMind looks to have solved protein structure prediction. Median GDT_TS went from 68.5 (CASP13) to 92.4!!!! Cf. their 2nd best CASP13 struct scored 92.8 (out of 100). Median RMSD is 2.1Å. I think it's over predictioncenter.org/casp14/…

Proud to share our #Spec2Vec preprint!! 😎 We adapted #NLP algorithms to learn relationships between MS/MS peaks. #Spec2Vec provides chemically meaningful spectral similarity scores and is scaling well! 😎 Work with @me_datapoint @eScienceCenter @sdrogers biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Here it is: the first mass spectrum that I ever collected, which captivated my young mind and never let go. In the almost decade and a half since, I have dallied with other techniques, but I always return to my first love. #BlackInChem #BlackInAnalytical
