👋 I’m Umar, a full-time software engineer and solo indie hacker.
By day, I work as a software engineer. By night, I build and ship my own products.
Currently building:
• List Maro: A makers-first product directory
listmaro.com
• Expenie: A simple personal finance app
expenie.com
• Shove: A tiny bidding experiment
shove.lol
Self-taught developer with 5+ years of experience, mostly working with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Next.js and AI APIs.
I share the real journey here: what I build, what works, what fails and what I learn along the way.
If you’re into indie hacking, AI products or building in public, follow along.
Share your honest opinions about listmaro.com
Negative feedback are welcome as well.
What makes you buy a SaaS subscription right away?
Is it a problem it solves, a demo that amazes you, a limited-time offer, or just a feeling you need it?
I'm curious to know what compels you to pull out your card without much thought.
Do you create a prototype first, or just start building and keep going?
I think it depends on the product.
I'm curious to know how other indie hackers and developers view this.
Software development is becoming easier every day.
But getting people to trust your product, getting them to pay for it, and convincing them to keep using it?
That's still the hard part.
AI is changing the way we build.
It hasn't changed how a business runs.
Apple is pushing harder to run serious AI workloads locally, while cloud AI companies are expanding their infrastructure.
It seems we're moving towards a world where developers won't be asking:
"Cloud or local?"
They'll use both, depending on the workload.
Hey everyone, hope you are doing fine. It's been a few days. I was not actually very active on the platform because of some tight schedules with my other responsibilities. It's nice to be back on the platform and let's see what we'll do now. By the way if your product is not listed at listmaro.com, do it now.
Just curious, has anyone used Google Search Console for X because now we have the ability in Google Search Console to add our social media accounts?
Introducing shadcn/lint. An agent-first linter for Tailwind design systems.
You define what’s allowed. When an agent breaks a rule, the error explains what’s wrong and how to fix it using your components, variants and theme.
There’s a lot you can do with this. Let me show you ↓

Anthropic is going deeper into vertical AI.
They are launching Claude for financial advisors so that it can be integrated with wealth platforms and investment portfolios
I think the next big AI opportunity will not be a general AI chatbot.
Instead I think they need to go deeper into one industry and actually understand the whole workflow.
I think that can become the next big thing.
Even Google engineers aren’t being forced to use only Gemini.
Maybe the future of development isn’t choosing one AI model.
It’s choosing the best model for each task.
