My personal AI writing policy - write and read every single word I want a human to process, own my writing, be concise

Reminds me of when I learned from someone with a large following here that he would post something deliberately incorrect about a topic he wanted to learn more about and wait for corrections plus engagement to roll in. Genius but not for the weak
being slightly wrong on here gets you so much more engagement, it’s so much more lucrative than bring precisely right

I make it a habit to check out libraries when I travel. My favorites are Oslo's central library, the Bibliothèque nationale in Paris and Calgary Public Library. Last one is special because my grandmother was a librarian there but a real gem!

Even as an introvert and someone who loves efficiency I enjoy the mundane daily chores such as grocery shopping, buying a single envelope, chatting with the barista as I order a coffee, saying hi to dogs and babies (vs babes) and toddlers

This is the way!
Exa Writing Policy: AI generated writing is banned. No external comms (tweets/linkedIn post/and more) can be AI written, and everything needs to be hand written. “If you don’t take the time to write it, why should anyone take the time to read it.”

This is an excellent profile on one of my favorite contemporary Indian poets
At 92, Gulzar writes with the same discipline that's helped him refine & reinvent his art decade after decade - building an enormous body of work known for its tenderness. This summer, I spent time with him at his Mumbai home for this @nytimes profile: nytimes.com/2026/09/21/world…

Every large lot available in the Bay Area should have only 3 development options - data center, Amazon warehouse or housing. I think that might finally solve our housing crisis

One more thing on the whole school thing. I think it's particularly admirable that @SFParents exists in SF and was created in the pandemic because it tries to improve the overall system and took on the hardest problems plaguing SFUSD in a very pragmatic way

The NYtimes article by Nikole Hannah-Jones reminded of a few realizations I came to over the last few years. Public schools, particularly in poorer neighborhoods in cities in the US are downstream of everything that is missing in terms of a welfare safety net.

Yes, everyone should send their kids to public schools because otherwise school lose funding esp if like in California the money is directly tied to days of attendance per student.

But it overlooks the fact that no amount of wealthier pupil attendance can solve the problem of schools and entire populations being underserved as policy choice by multiple levels of govt (city, state, federal).

I’m working from a coffee shop and it’s perfect because I can eavesdrop on the first date couple next to me. As a bonus the woman is Indian and the dude is white so I’m extra invested.

Moved on to safer topics such as travel, much more optimistic for their date but less fun to eavesdrop now

Couple has left and are going to continue with a walk. Pretty impressive turn.
