✍️ Writing is essential to how @Mercury communicates as a 1300 person remote-first company. I wrote on Writing At Mercury (inspired by @vxanand's post). Principles of Writing at Mercury 1. Writing is thinking: Spending time on writing is not wasting time, it helps you process ideas, analyze problems, and explore solutions. 2. Less writing is better: Good writing is concise, which makes it easier to understand. 3. Reading should be easy: If >2 people will read your writing you should spend extra time making your writing good + digestible + clear etc. It is not fair for people reading to do work that the writer could have done for them. 4. Writing is expression: Your writing will be taken as an expression of your identity, so give it the care it deserves and be authentic. 5. Writing is important: Writing is the main way we communicate internally at Mercury, as a remote-first firm. We frame important discussions, and document thought processes and ultimate decisions, with our writing. On Using AI for Writing It is very easy to use AI to write a lot of content. If you do so, then by default you have: 1. Outsourced your thinking 2. Created a verbose/long doc 3. Made it hard to read 4. Have a doc that is not expressive and very bland 5. Watered down our discussions and decision making In other words, heavy AI use for writing is diametrically opposed to the principles of writing laid out above. Some effective ways that AI could be used instead: 1. Critiquing your writing 2. Condensing your writing 3. Shaping initial drafts 4. Summarizing complex information On Using AI to Respond on Slack/Comments Slack threads and comments are a particularly bad use of AI writing. 1. Slack responses and doc comments should always be short. Large blocks of AI text don’t belong. 2. AI used here is often thoughtless and the other party could have just used the AI tool themself. It inherently shows a disrespect for the reader’s time. 3. Given our remote culture, one of the main ways we connect with each other is via Slack. Using AI often would obscure your authentic perspective. 4. It would be better to share the prompt you gave to the AI directly to the other person and they can just prompt their own AI tool. How to do Great Writing at Mercury We aren’t going to police whether someone is using AI or not to help them write. We will just have a high standard for your writing output. Here are some high-level rules that should help: 1. Always read and stand by 100% of your written output. 2. When it is important, spend time on your writing. You might spend time on the narrative arc, the tone, the structure, whether it clearly articulates an issue, explores solutions, and drives toward an outcome. 3. Think hard about how you can use fewer words and be more concise. 4. Be authentic. You don’t need to dress up your writing in corporate jargon to make it sound professional. Simple, plain writing is often more effective. 5. Never copy-paste AI responses to someone in Slack or to comment on a doc. 6. Sometimes it's better to write nothing at all. Don’t make a comment in a doc/slack because you want to be part of the convo, say it if it materially moves things forward.

Proud to share that Tristan Walker is joining Collaborative Fund as a Partner. In that role, he'll be a voice for the kind of company-building we stand for and a resource for the founders pursuing it. We've long believed that the best people to support founders are other founders, specifically those who have built enduring, values-driven companies through the full cycle of highs and lows. Tristan is a textbook example of that. The relationship here goes back over a decade. I backed Tristan when he launched Walker & Company and watched up close as he built Bevel with incredible clarity and integrity. That journey eventually led to an acquisition by Procter & Gamble, proving that you can build a successful brand by serving communities the market overlooks. Tristan's experience isn't limited to a single win. He was the third employee at Foursquare, an EIR at Andreessen Horowitz, and co-founded Code2040 to help diversify Silicon Valley. Today, he brings a wealth of governance and leadership experience from his board service at Shake Shack, Foot Locker, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. And he's still building: his latest venture, Heirloom, is working to reshore American fine craft, training the next generation of artisans and rebuilding the supply chains behind it. At Collaborative, we look for builders rather than just allocators. Tristan's track record as a founder and his deep roots in both business and civic life make him an invaluable partner for the founders we support. We're lucky to have him on the team. Between Tristan and Parker Hayden, who joined earlier this year to lead Collab Holdings, we've added two partners this year who love to build.

Rest easy Om! Snapped this pic of Om and then VMware CEO Paul Maritz back in 2013. Om was a straight shooter, no BS. I always appreciated him being direct with me. Helped me + my clients be better. Thanks for your time, your patience + advice when I was at Humane. 🙏🏿
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Om Malik’s passing. It’s difficult to state the impact that @om had on all of our lives at True. Om was the first Founder we funded when we started True. In our Presidio office, Om discussed his idea for a new type of media company. That idea would later become GigaOm. Om was a brilliant Founder, an amazing teammate and Partner at True, a prolific writer, a gifted photographer, and a sage and valuable advisor to so many in the technology ecosystem. Om was brilliant, thoughtful, humorous, profoundly kind, and deeply curious. He was also relentless when he had an idea or story. Om was brave - he never shied away from sharing his views or pushing for the truth. We were very, very lucky to call Om our Partner and friend at True for these last many years. For today, we simply encourage you to take a moment to remember this beautiful soul and great thinker who was in our midst. He would ask us to slow down a bit. Om would want us to think deeper, express our love for one another a lot more. Above all else, Om wanted us all to retain our humanity and care for each other in our brilliant quest to rebuild the world. We love you Om. Team True om.co/2026/06/24/1966-2026/

As a teenager, I spent most of my time building games. I was obsessed with creating worlds other people could step inside. That obsession took me through computer science in the Netherlands, computer vision for VR in Switzerland, and eventually to a small office in downtown San Francisco where four of us were building something I'd wanted to exist since I was a teenager. Today, we're announcing $59M seed and Series A backed by Lightspeed, Amplify and incredible angels. The infrastructure for real-time interactive worlds is here.
Today, we’re coming out of stealth with $59M in seed and Series A funding, led by Lightspeed, with Amplify Partners, WndrCo, Sky9, FPV, and incredible angels. For a long time, pixels have been pre-rendered and played back passively. World Models change that entirely: pixels are generated on the fly, in real time, in response to what you're doing. Every time computing has made a shift from passive to interactive, entire industries appeared that didn't exist before. We're standing in front of such moment again. Reactor is the platform for building in the World Model era: the infrastructure that lets any developer build with World Models at global scale. With only a few lines of code, and you're streaming pixels from a frontier World Model into your product, in real time, at massively. Over the last 6 months, we’ve assembled an all-star team from Apple, Meta, Google, Luma AI, Netflix, and Replicate. We're already partnering with some of the biggest companies in the world, and hundreds of developers are already building on Reactor today.

A year ago @taiuti and I started tinkering with real-time video in cafes around San Francisco. We’d worked together on Vision Pro at Apple, deep in the real-time systems that power new types of experiences and software. World models blew us away, but nobody was building infrastructure to run them interactively at scale, so we decided to become that platform. Today we’re announcing Reactor + $59M to unlock a future where real-time world models are accessible to every developer.

It’s time to unveil what we’ve been working on: today, @reactorworld comes out of stealth with $59M to power the World Model era. And we’re just getting started.
Today Reactor is coming out of stealth. We’ve raised $59M in Seed and Series A funding, led by @lightspeedvp, with participation from @AmplifyPartners, @wndrco, @Sky9Capital, and @FPVventures. Reactor is the platform for building in the World Model era: the infrastructure that lets developers build with them at global scale for the first time. Stream from a frontier World Model to your app, in real time, all in under 10 lines of code. World Models represent the next major shift in AI: pixels, audio and actions are generated on the fly, in real-time, in response to user inputs, and to the environment. Every time computing has made a shift from passive to interactive, entire industries appeared that didn't exist before. We're standing in front of such moment again. Over the last 6 months, we’ve assembled an all-star team with alumni from Apple, Meta, Google, Luma AI, Netflix, and Replicate. We're already partnering with some of the biggest names and labs in the world, and hundreds of developers are already building on Reactor. The World Model era starts now.

Big update: I’m starting a new company. 6 months ago, @_bschmidtchen and I made a bet. What if entire worlds could be generated on the fly, pixel by pixel? World models are the next platform shift, and we saw it coming. Since then, we’ve: - secured major contracts across media and physical AI industries - assembled a team of 10+ from Apple, Meta, Google, Adobe & Microsoft - raised from top-tier investors More details soon. We’re scaling fast, and hiring now. Come build with us: reactor.inc
